VAPEUR DE TERRE
Excerpt from the Journal of Dr. Alistair Whitmore, Botanical Explorer – 1915
"At first light, the forest exhaled. A fine veil of steam rose from the earth—Vapeur de Terre—carrying with it the scent of damp moss, resin-slick cedar, and the ghost of last night's rain. The camphor leaves crackled faintly underfoot, their crisp green bite softened by the mineral hush of wet soil. I stood quite still, utterly overcome by the wild hush. A fragrance not worn, but wandered into."
