About Fragrance Oil
  • The fragrance oils sold by Scent Memory are a manufacturing product. They are not skin safe on their own and must be diluted prior to use. 
  • Our oils are formulated to generally work in candle and body care applications, but must be tested for compatibility in your product. 
  • Due to the concentration of the oils safety precautions must be taken when handling them. 

What are fragrance oils?

Fragrance oils are synthetic or blended aromatic compounds designed to mimic natural scents or create entirely new ones. Unlike essential oils, which are extracted from plants, fragrance oils are crafted by blending aromatic chemicals and natural extracts. This careful formulation allows for a wide range of scents that may not be possible to achieve with essential oils alone and also allows for greater safety and performance in their applications. 

How Can Fragrance Oils Be Used?

Though they smell beautiful on their own, fragrance oils are a manufacturing product and must be diluted prior to use. They can be formulated for one specific purpose (such as for soap or in a candle) or for a wider range of applications - however, no one fragrance oil will work in ALL applications, so testing your products is a must. The fragrance oils that Scent Memory Fragrance offer are generally formulated to be safe in candle and body care applications. 

Are Fragrance Oils Safe On Their Own?

Just like any concentrated product, care must be used in handling fragrance oils prior to dilution in product. Every fragrance oil product page contains the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) in the "Regulatory Documents" tab. Download and review prior to using the fragrance oil. 
Safety Information
  • Fragrance oils are a manufacturing product used in making candles, soap and other products. They must be diluted before use.
  • Refer to the IFRA tab for maximum skin safety usage rates, and review the IFRA document carefully. 
  • Maximum usage rates refer to skin safety percentages only and are not recommendations for usage rates in products or formulas. Refer to your formula for the recommended usage rate, and do not use the fragrance oil if the IFRA rate is not rated highly enough for use in your product. 
  • Download and review the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) document provided in the IFRA & SDS tab. Follow all safety guidelines recommended. Do not allow contact with skin or ingest. Follow all IFRA guidelines for dilution in product.  Care should be used in handling at all times.

For our Canadian Friends: we highly recommend Shippsy.com as a package forwarder. UPS charges very high brokerage fees and duty on oils even if they are manufactured in the United States. Shippsy will not charge these fees if a commercial invoice showing the oil origin is provided. We are happy to provide this upon request. You are responsible to ensure all import regulations are followed, including documentation and product approval. Scent Memory is responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

International Shipping: At this time Scent Memory only ships within the United States and its territories. We are responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

Shipping Policy: Scent Memory ships orders through the United States Postal Service and UPS. All orders are assigned tracking numbers which are transmitted to the customer within 24 hours of shipping.

Orders that are marked as delivered by the shipping carrier are considered complete. Scent Memory is not responsible for stolen or missing packages after the carrier conveys delivered status. Individuals should work with their local post office or UPS location to identify exact location of delivery.

Returned Packages: In the event of a returned package due to undeliverable location, customer refusal or incorrect address, Scent Memory will send the customer and invoice for redelivery. If this is not paid, a refund on the purchase will be made minus the original delivery fee.

Damaged Packages: In the event of a damaged package please contact info@scentmemoryfragrance.com with pictures of the packaging and the product, with a description of and the extent of the damage. This is required for Scent Memory to file a shipping damage claim.

Genuinely my favorite of all the SM fragrance family. I've never smelled the original inspiring fragrance but I can speak to how wonderful this one is. Performs beautifully in soap, doesn't discolor, and smells sooo strong after 2 years despite how delicate the fragrance is. It's one of those that's hard to describe, to me it's the ultimate soap scent: floral but not cloying, smells kind of like a flowery breeze but it's also anchored with something too.... I just want to keep my nose shoved against it all day. It smells like a "your skin but better" type fragrance to me but without the sharp musk and pepper that usually accompanies fragrances that are described that way. This one smells like rain in an enchanted desert. Like moonlight on a prairie. I don't know! I'm shocked that it doesn't have all five star reviews tbh.

The cedar is what comes through most to me out of the bottle. It’s definitely at the forefront here and slightly takes over the other more subtle notes, although they are definitely there, thus more in the background.

I've never experienced Mojave Ghost but I like this one. To me it smells like more of a perfume but I would imagine this would be really great in a candle - smells sort of mysterious.

Everyone has a different sniffer. Seriously, I get that. To my nose this is a wonderful unisex cologne type fragrance. I don't get any cactus water (a classic FO sold by many suppliers) or succulent type smell. It does have a desert vibe though. Best part is that it really behaves in CP. In fact, it slowed my trace big time. Swirl away soapers. No discoloration either!! 😃

A gorgeous and unique gender neutral fragrance

I absolutely adore this scent! I use this in personal fragrances as well as wax. It seems to develop and morph as it is worn on the skin and cured in wax. There is a muted floral and musk feel to it with a tea undertone that just barely peeks out. My husband and I both wear this one!

Get ready and hold on to your seats, because this fragrance takes you on a wild ride!
It opens with very herbaceous notes, with a hint of ambrette and light Musk for balance and grounding.

On my warmer, with a power burn the first few hours remained green. Very reminiscent of succulents, creosote and other VERY accurate native Mojave scents. This piqued my interest since the leafy/floral notes are Magnolia and violet.

The heart was musk, powder, and almost a hint of Desert primrose. I can see it now as the Magnolia with the violet’s softening sweetness. If you are familiar with either Ramon Monegal Cotton Musk or Dolce & Gabbana Sicily, you will love this scent, most specifically the middle notes.

Finally, the richness of the Amber takes over when the top and heart have burned off. Full bodied, evening wear type aroma. A heady blend which gave me Coco Chanel Vibes (the original edp). Enticingly sensual.

As a perfume/Cologne this scent will take you from day to night and be appropriate every step of the way. I’m sort of obsessed and want to make everything with it.

PS, I’m from Palm Springs which is 30 mins from the Mojave Desert. ACCURATE AF to describe it 🎉 (I haven’t smelled the Byredo original though)
