About Fragrance Oil
  • The fragrance oils sold by Scent Memory are a manufacturing product. They are not skin safe on their own and must be diluted prior to use. 
  • Our oils are formulated to generally work in candle and body care applications, but must be tested for compatibility in your product. 
  • Due to the concentration of the oils safety precautions must be taken when handling them. 

What are fragrance oils?

Fragrance oils are synthetic or blended aromatic compounds designed to mimic natural scents or create entirely new ones. Unlike essential oils, which are extracted from plants, fragrance oils are crafted by blending aromatic chemicals and natural extracts. This careful formulation allows for a wide range of scents that may not be possible to achieve with essential oils alone and also allows for greater safety and performance in their applications. 

How Can Fragrance Oils Be Used?

Though they smell beautiful on their own, fragrance oils are a manufacturing product and must be diluted prior to use. They can be formulated for one specific purpose (such as for soap or in a candle) or for a wider range of applications - however, no one fragrance oil will work in ALL applications, so testing your products is a must. The fragrance oils that Scent Memory Fragrance offer are generally formulated to be safe in candle and body care applications. 

Are Fragrance Oils Safe On Their Own?

Just like any concentrated product, care must be used in handling fragrance oils prior to dilution in product. Every fragrance oil product page contains the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) in the "Regulatory Documents" tab. Download and review prior to using the fragrance oil.

  • Fragrance oils are a manufacturing product used in making candles, soap and other products. They must be diluted before use.
  • Refer to the IFRA tab for maximum skin safety usage rates, and review the IFRA document carefully. 
  • Maximum usage rates refer to skin safety percentages only and are not recommendations for usage rates in products or formulas. Refer to your formula for the recommended usage rate, and do not use the fragrance oil if the IFRA rate is not rated highly enough for use in your product. 
  • Download and review the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) document provided in the IFRA & SDS tab. Follow all safety guidelines recommended. Do not allow contact with skin or ingest. Follow all IFRA guidelines for dilution in product.  Care should be used in handling at all times.

For our Canadian Friends: we highly recommend Shippsy.com as a package forwarder. UPS charges very high brokerage fees and duty on oils even if they are manufactured in the United States. Shippsy will not charge these fees if a commercial invoice showing the oil origin is provided. We are happy to provide this upon request. You are responsible to ensure all import regulations are followed, including documentation and product approval. Scent Memory is responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

International Shipping: At this time Scent Memory only ships within the United States and its territories. We are responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

Shipping Policy: Scent Memory ships orders through the United States Postal Service and UPS. All orders are assigned tracking numbers which are transmitted to the customer within 24 hours of shipping.

Orders that are marked as delivered by the shipping carrier are considered complete. Scent Memory is not responsible for stolen or missing packages after the carrier conveys delivered status. Individuals should work with their local post office or UPS location to identify exact location of delivery.

Returned Packages: In the event of a returned package due to undeliverable location, customer refusal or incorrect address, Scent Memory will send the customer and invoice for redelivery. If this is not paid, a refund on the purchase will be made minus the original delivery fee.

Damaged Packages: In the event of a damaged package please contact info@scentmemoryfragrance.com with pictures of the packaging and the product, with a description of and the extent of the damage. This is required for Scent Memory to file a shipping damage claim.

Okay so this one blew me away. OOB it was NOT what i expected and along with VERY strong and overpowering it came offbas slightly offensive to my nose. So i took a qtip and dipped it and after about an hour i came back to sniff again and it is GORGEOUS!!!! Absolutely a beautiful smooth deep masculine scent but im going to try mixing with a few different softer feminine scents and i can pretty much guarantee ill be able to create a Beautiful unisex scent too!!! Dont judge this one off the initial oob! Put a sample into whatever medium first! Its amazing!

Great throw in a candle! I've blended it in soap with Bay Rhum and Proper Gent with great results. It has a sweetness that is not too sweet by itself but enough that it can be used to add a sweetness or booziness to other FOs

I love this. First you smell rum, then the vetiver and then the sandalwood sneaks in. I added it to some body oil to wear it on my skin and it’s the kind of scent where you keep smelling yourself and it just keeps making you sigh. It seems like it would be good for men but also loved by women as well. I made a test candle and the cold throw is good. I’ll be making a bigger one to really test the hot throw but I expect it to be good based on the cold. Also considering this one for soap, hopefully doesn’t turn too brown. So really I think this is a scent that could be used for anything from body to candle to soap.

So yummy! This is very very rum and amber forward (according to my nose, anyway) and definitely a bit softer than the original. The cyanide in the original is more present in it I believe? I’ve put this into eau de toilettes, candles, and body lotions and it performs wonderfully in all mediums!

The Black Pearl is a must have if you like rum, vetiver, with a complex masculine scent. I named it Pirate Ship and have added it to my concrete candle line. It is a huge seller for men and women alike.

Super yummy and sweet, I love the rum. I once again like to boost the coffee notes with even MORE coffee (a bit of cafe americano) because I don't find it to be very prominent. The sugar cane and rum are quite forward.

I know this is supposed to be a dupe of the Killian Black Phantom. I got to be honest To me , It dosentt smell nothing like that. It’s definitely not a bad fragrance and to be honest I’m in love with it. I had created a tester candle from my upcoming new candle line and when I saw the description saying its a door like black phantom I had to buy it ASAP.

It has a light sweet fragrance , a tad bit of rum and A twinge of smoke. You can barely smell it but it almost makes it very grounded. My wife’s cousin came over on Mother’s Day and my wife casually pulled the tester candle out for her to smell. This woman went Bonkers over how beautiful the smell of the candle. She was like ,I want to buy two . When can they be ready

I wanted to love it but this one doesn't do it for me. For whatever reason, the sweetness overpowers everything else. Scent is so subjective and other people might love the sweetness. I couldn't pick up the other notes. That being said, I made lotion and shave soap with this and it worked well. Just not my personal fave.

I love this fragrance, especially since I consider it unisex. I had my mom try the parfum I made with it, and she loved it. My husband loves it, too. It has a wonderful warm rum scent, and I always feel like I can smell lightly wet wood, not dank and gross, but something rich and freshly cut. If you're seeking something warm and unisex, this is a great fragrance to try.

Got this as part of the new oils sample bundle and almost passed on giving this a sniff (I had a few particulars in mind I was more interested in). If you love Angel's Share and Cedarwood & Rum, I think you'll really like this one. First notes I get are the coffee and rum, then the sandalwood. It's simply wonderful and smells so deep, high end and sophisticated. I dumped this sample in some Soy10 wax (came out to about 9% load) and the throw was incredible after 4 days! You simply HAVE to get this for the "masculine" scents in your line. It would make an amazing soap, shaving/body butter or beard oil.
