About Fragrance Oil
  • The fragrance oils sold by Scent Memory are a manufacturing product. They are not skin safe on their own and must be diluted prior to use. 
  • Our oils are formulated to generally work in candle and body care applications, but must be tested for compatibility in your product. 
  • Due to the concentration of the oils safety precautions must be taken when handling them. 

What are fragrance oils?

Fragrance oils are synthetic or blended aromatic compounds designed to mimic natural scents or create entirely new ones. Unlike essential oils, which are extracted from plants, fragrance oils are crafted by blending aromatic chemicals and natural extracts. This careful formulation allows for a wide range of scents that may not be possible to achieve with essential oils alone and also allows for greater safety and performance in their applications. 

How Can Fragrance Oils Be Used?

Though they smell beautiful on their own, fragrance oils are a manufacturing product and must be diluted prior to use. They can be formulated for one specific purpose (such as for soap or in a candle) or for a wider range of applications - however, no one fragrance oil will work in ALL applications, so testing your products is a must. The fragrance oils that Scent Memory Fragrance offer are generally formulated to be safe in candle and body care applications. 

Are Fragrance Oils Safe On Their Own?

Just like any concentrated product, care must be used in handling fragrance oils prior to dilution in product. Every fragrance oil product page contains the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) in the "Regulatory Documents" tab. Download and review prior to using the fragrance oil.

  • Fragrance oils are a manufacturing product used in making candles, soap and other products. They must be diluted before use.
  • Refer to the IFRA tab for maximum skin safety usage rates, and review the IFRA document carefully. 
  • Maximum usage rates refer to skin safety percentages only and are not recommendations for usage rates in products or formulas. Refer to your formula for the recommended usage rate, and do not use the fragrance oil if the IFRA rate is not rated highly enough for use in your product. 
  • Download and review the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) document provided in the IFRA & SDS tab. Follow all safety guidelines recommended. Do not allow contact with skin or ingest. Follow all IFRA guidelines for dilution in product.  Care should be used in handling at all times.

For our Canadian Friends: we highly recommend Shippsy.com as a package forwarder. UPS charges very high brokerage fees and duty on oils even if they are manufactured in the United States. Shippsy will not charge these fees if a commercial invoice showing the oil origin is provided. We are happy to provide this upon request. You are responsible to ensure all import regulations are followed, including documentation and product approval. Scent Memory is responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

International Shipping: At this time Scent Memory only ships within the United States and its territories. We are responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

Shipping Policy: Scent Memory ships orders through the United States Postal Service and UPS. All orders are assigned tracking numbers which are transmitted to the customer within 24 hours of shipping.

Orders that are marked as delivered by the shipping carrier are considered complete. Scent Memory is not responsible for stolen or missing packages after the carrier conveys delivered status. Individuals should work with their local post office or UPS location to identify exact location of delivery.

Returned Packages: In the event of a returned package due to undeliverable location, customer refusal or incorrect address, Scent Memory will send the customer and invoice for redelivery. If this is not paid, a refund on the purchase will be made minus the original delivery fee.

Damaged Packages: In the event of a damaged package please contact info@scentmemoryfragrance.com with pictures of the packaging and the product, with a description of and the extent of the damage. This is required for Scent Memory to file a shipping damage claim.

I love this scent..and I typically don't enjoy winter or much associated with it. I had purchased a bottle last year and never did anything with it. This year, I cracked it open and put it in some room spray...it's amazing!!! So amazing that I purchased 2 more bottles this year and used it in some wax melts as well. This was my favorite of the 3 evergreen scents I ordered, mostly bc the hint of sweetness that break up the wood. I pick up berry but it is not noted in the description. In CP soap this fragrance oil discolored to medium/dark tan. It did not accelerate or rice and the scent retention is amazing with so many notes shining through. This would make an amazing room spray for the holidays- but I would market it all year.

This is such a beautiful scent- this is NOT a cheap smelling, christmas tree car freshener scent. Its upscale, luxe and so, so beautiful! I have converted people who swear they "hate pine scents" into customers who love this scent. Another SM hit!

I cannot say enough good things about this scent. It has become my favorite “winter” candle scent but I constantly burn it year round. It’s layered and complex and not your typical pine/evergreen scent. It’s way more upscale than you can imagine.

Yes, there are evergreen notes, but this is NOT your average Christmas tree scent. Notes of amber and woods give this FO a richness and depth that you won’t find in any store. SM does it again with a sophisticated, high-end rendition of a nostalgic holiday favorite!

I'll preface this by saying that I'm a weirdo who is put off by fir tree scents because of a roasted meat note I smell (gyros, specifically.) However, I realize how these fragrances are a staple in a holiday lineup, so I pressed on in finding one. Other companies often blend in tons of fruit or spices that place it more into the type of scent assault you get in the holiday aisle of a Michael's store. However, this one IS different to my nose. It's a balsam fir tree scent with a freshness that lifts it up (maybe it's a bit of a camphor/eucalyptus lean?) Whatever it is, it's going into my holiday offerings. It was a breeze to wick and has a monster throw in CACS.

This is my favorite holiday scent. EVER. If you could put the scene of opening presents on Christmas Eve into a fragrance, it would be this one! It’s not overpoweringly “tree” scented (if that makes sense?) but instead captures the entire essence of Christmas! I put “twinkle lights” as one of the scent note descriptors for this one and my customers loved that. Add it to your holiday collection this year!

To me, as a Norwegian, this is not a christmas-scent. (I know, we're wierd...) BUT! This is definetly a scent that captivates the scandinavian forests! I have been looking for a fragrance that gives of this vibe for some time now, and I have finally found it! Throws wonderfully in my para-soy blend wax. Obviously there are lots of Christmas Tree type FOs but this one really is top shelf. The CT/HT are both strong but pleasantly so. A customer called after purchasing a candle at a holiday market and wanted any & all the Trim the Tree candles I had left!

smooth holiday scent

Smells like Christmas

Am new to making wax melts and Trim the Tree is the first FO tried. Used C55 wax at 10%. Had trouble getting the heat up as high as called for, so was worried my first try would be a fail. But no! It's been less than a week and am so pleased to report that both CT and HT are very strong and the scent just as described. Truly can almost picture the bustle of decorating the tree and the excitement of the season as it takes off. Thank you for a fantastic oil.
