About Fragrance Oil
  • The fragrance oils sold by Scent Memory are a manufacturing product. They are not skin safe on their own and must be diluted prior to use.

What are fragrance oils?

Fragrance oils are synthetic or blended aromatic compounds designed to mimic natural scents or create entirely new ones. Unlike essential oils, which are extracted from plants, fragrance oils are crafted by blending aromatic chemicals and natural extracts. This careful formulation allows for a wide range of scents that may not be possible to achieve with essential oils alone and also allows for greater safety and performance in their applications. 

How Can Fragrance Oils Be Used?

Though they smell beautiful on their own, fragrance oils are a manufacturing product and must be diluted prior to use. They can be formulated for one specific purpose (such as for soap or in a candle) or for a wider range of applications - however, no one fragrance oil will work in ALL applications, so testing your products is a must. The fragrance oils that Scent Memory Fragrance offer are generally formulated to be safe in candle and body care applications. 

Are Fragrance Oils Safe On Their Own?

Just like any concentrated product, care must be used in handling fragrance oils prior to dilution in product. Every fragrance oil product page contains the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) in the "Regulatory Documents" tab. Download and review prior to using the fragrance oil.

  • Fragrance oils are a manufacturing product used in making candles, soap and other products. They must be diluted before use.
  • Refer to the IFRA tab for maximum skin safety usage rates, and review the IFRA document carefully. 
  • Maximum usage rates refer to skin safety percentages only and are not recommendations for usage rates in products or formulas. Refer to your formula for the recommended usage rate, and do not use the fragrance oil if the IFRA rate is not rated highly enough for use in your product. 
  • Download and review the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) document provided in the IFRA & SDS tab. Follow all safety guidelines recommended. Do not allow contact with skin or ingest. Follow all IFRA guidelines for dilution in product.  Care should be used in handling at all times.

For our Canadian Friends: we highly recommend Shippsy.com as a package forwarder. UPS charges very high brokerage fees and duty on oils even if they are manufactured in the United States. Shippsy will not charge these fees if a commercial invoice showing the oil origin is provided. We are happy to provide this upon request. You are responsible to ensure all import regulations are followed, including documentation and product approval. Scent Memory is responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

International Shipping: At this time Scent Memory only ships within the United States and its territories. We are responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

Shipping Policy: Scent Memory ships orders through the United States Postal Service and UPS. All orders are assigned tracking numbers which are transmitted to the customer within 24 hours of shipping.

Orders that are marked as delivered by the shipping carrier are considered complete. Scent Memory is not responsible for stolen or missing packages after the carrier conveys delivered status. Individuals should work with their local post office or UPS location to identify exact location of delivery.

Returned Packages: In the event of a returned package due to undeliverable location, customer refusal or incorrect address, Scent Memory will send the customer and invoice for redelivery. If this is not paid, a refund on the purchase will be made minus the original delivery fee.

Okay had to come edit my review on this one. Originally it definitely wasnt my fav and kind of smelled like pencil shavings lol. After 2 months of maturity its AMAZING!!! Definitely a beauty! I am currently wearing it and cant stop smelling it lol. Most definitely going in my line up and although its a wonderful chocolate smokey delicious mens scent it can TOTALLY be unisex imo 💯💙 dont pass this one up but make sure its guven time and trust the maturation process!!!

I loved this fragrance when it was first released

I loved this fragrance when it was first released a couple (?) years ago. I just reordered after running out because it’s been one of my best selling scents, but this new order seems to be a little more smokey than the previous bottle I had. Maybe it’s because my original bottle was older. Unsure, but it’s still a really good fragrance!

But oh, past me, you fool! I should have bought this sooner. This scent? It’s wonderful.

I mixed it into a perfume, and I have never, NEVER, smelled better.

If you’re hesitating like I did—don’t. Buy it. Bathe in it (actually don’t do that, that would be dangerous).

Smoldering Con Latte, how do I love thee? Admittedly, I was never a big gourmand fan until SM! SCL is a key component in a couple of my blends. It is absolute perfection on its own. I truly wish there were more hours in a day because SM makes creating so fun!

I was hoping this would be a little stronger but it is a very warm silky scent. In CP soap it discolored to medium brown (shocker:) and had NO acceleration. The scent retention was medium. It is not a typical sweet vanilla scent. I am looking forward to trying it in another application since CP soap is very morphing to delicate fragrances. I am sure it lost a lot if love in saponification.

I made a small candle and a perfume roller ball from this fragrance. In both wax and perfume, it is so beautiful. If I could touch the scent it would feel like velvet. Along with the velvet is an underlying smoky chocolate essence. Amazing, I'm in love!

OMGGG.. fantastic fragrance, love this one! Smoky dark chocolate.. sweet, but not sugary sweet.. cozy, woodsy, and mysterious. Like sitting around woodfire, if the wood was drizzled in luxurious dark chocolate. I, personally, only get a wee bit of the coffee note, but I think it's perfect. This would make fabulous cold weather/Halloween fragrance. Unisex. Would be great in perfumes, candles, wax melts, room sprays, as a blender.. pretty much anything! Do yourself a favor and put this in your cart!

I pick up all the notes just as described. Smokey dark chocolate with a touch of coffee. I have it in wax but it’s elegant so I want to try it in perfume next.

This one is underrated. At first I didn’t know what to think… But I applied it at 100% (IFRA max for this oil as a perfume) and within 30 minutes it bloomed wonderfully. It has great projection and definitely would work as a perfume/cologne. It’s unisex and more masculine leaning but depending on your favorite scent category, it could work. I think it’s got a dark/gothic quality to it. It’s warm and sweet but not too sweet. It’s cozy, smoky, and sexy. It’s chocolate but not bakery chocolate. I could see this being blended with cream/vanilla as well as other scents or just on its own. It smells expensive to me and in my opinion it’s as good as The Black Pearl (inspired by Black Phantom from Kilian). I am surprised Diptyque did not make this into a perfume spray originally.

SO BEAUTIFUL!!!! this is the best chocolate scent I've ever smelled. i used it in CAC at 8% the HT is amazing!! this is hands down one of my favourite SM fragrances' -- I can't really make out the coffee in this one but definitely get the dark chocolate & fire wood.

Honestly I didn't expect to like this one simply because it's not a scent profile I'm drawn to. But i've got it going in a wax warmer and it's really stunning. My first thought is it would be great in autumn and winter but it's currently a cold rainy day in nyc right now i find it really shifts the mood. Which is to say i find this is the coziest and most comforting scent I've come across in any FO.

This is a wonderful chocolate FO! I get the smoldering and a touch of coffee. Yeah, all the notes are present. Burning clean with a wooden wick. Throwing through my entire house too. I didn't think I needed another chocolate FO, I was wrong!
