About Fragrance Oil
  • The fragrance oils sold by Scent Memory are a manufacturing product. They are not skin safe on their own and must be diluted prior to use. 
  • Our oils are formulated to generally work in candle and body care applications, but must be tested for compatibility in your product. 
  • Due to the concentration of the oils safety precautions must be taken when handling them. 

What are fragrance oils?

Fragrance oils are synthetic or blended aromatic compounds designed to mimic natural scents or create entirely new ones. Unlike essential oils, which are extracted from plants, fragrance oils are crafted by blending aromatic chemicals and natural extracts. This careful formulation allows for a wide range of scents that may not be possible to achieve with essential oils alone and also allows for greater safety and performance in their applications. 

How Can Fragrance Oils Be Used?

Though they smell beautiful on their own, fragrance oils are a manufacturing product and must be diluted prior to use. They can be formulated for one specific purpose (such as for soap or in a candle) or for a wider range of applications - however, no one fragrance oil will work in ALL applications, so testing your products is a must. The fragrance oils that Scent Memory Fragrance offer are generally formulated to be safe in candle and body care applications. 

Are Fragrance Oils Safe On Their Own?

Just like any concentrated product, care must be used in handling fragrance oils prior to dilution in product. Every fragrance oil product page contains the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) in the "Regulatory Documents" tab. Download and review prior to using the fragrance oil.

  • Fragrance oils are a manufacturing product used in making candles, soap and other products. They must be diluted before use.
  • Refer to the IFRA tab for maximum skin safety usage rates, and review the IFRA document carefully. 
  • Maximum usage rates refer to skin safety percentages only and are not recommendations for usage rates in products or formulas. Refer to your formula for the recommended usage rate, and do not use the fragrance oil if the IFRA rate is not rated highly enough for use in your product. 
  • Download and review the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) document provided in the IFRA & SDS tab. Follow all safety guidelines recommended. Do not allow contact with skin or ingest. Follow all IFRA guidelines for dilution in product.  Care should be used in handling at all times.

For our Canadian Friends: we highly recommend Shippsy.com as a package forwarder. UPS charges very high brokerage fees and duty on oils even if they are manufactured in the United States. Shippsy will not charge these fees if a commercial invoice showing the oil origin is provided. We are happy to provide this upon request. You are responsible to ensure all import regulations are followed, including documentation and product approval. Scent Memory is responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

International Shipping: At this time Scent Memory only ships within the United States and its territories. We are responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

Shipping Policy: Scent Memory ships orders through the United States Postal Service and UPS. All orders are assigned tracking numbers which are transmitted to the customer within 24 hours of shipping.

Orders that are marked as delivered by the shipping carrier are considered complete. Scent Memory is not responsible for stolen or missing packages after the carrier conveys delivered status. Individuals should work with their local post office or UPS location to identify exact location of delivery.

Returned Packages: In the event of a returned package due to undeliverable location, customer refusal or incorrect address, Scent Memory will send the customer and invoice for redelivery. If this is not paid, a refund on the purchase will be made minus the original delivery fee.

Damaged Packages: In the event of a damaged package please contact info@scentmemoryfragrance.com with pictures of the packaging and the product, with a description of and the extent of the damage. This is required for Scent Memory to file a shipping damage claim.

Due to the low IFRA limit, I've only used this as a blender so far. It's OG is one of my favorite fragrances and even when blended, I can pick up on the book note. I love that this FO's "paper" note stands out amongst others.

It’s fragrances like this one that made me immediately obsessed with Scent Mem. I can’t imagine why this wouldn’t get a 5 star? It smells EXACTLY like cracking open a paperback or magazine. It’s strong in wax, it’s atmospheric. What’s not to like????

Soooo...this misses Another 13 by a notable margin, but it's a lovely fragrance. The Ambrox quality of Another 13 gives it a metallic sharpness at the front of the fragrance in the original, and a warm powdery drydown. This version NAILS the powdery aspect, but lacks the sharp ambroxan at the front, and doesn't dry "warm." It reminds me of a powdery fig, like Candlescience Mediterranean Fig or Midnight Fig by Hive & Honey. I'd market it in my lineup as Fig!

This one is definitely light and best suited to room or body spray applications and not candles, hence 1 star off based on that, however on scent alone, this fragrance is a 5/5. Definitely very niche and high end smelling, I definitely get a lot of the scent of iso e super and cetalox (ambroxan), so it has that sort of addicting quality to me, similar to when you smell BR540.

I got a sniffy sample a while back and was instantly in love—and hit with a wave of nostalgia. It reminded me of—and this is very, very niche lol—brothers in the masjid who study. It reminds me of my dad. The woodsy notes are reminiscent of their attars, the paper notes very realistically capture the scent of a mosque library and just are so comforting to me. I mixed it with whispers in the library and omgggg I smell it every time I walk past the soap. It’s so perfect. It is very light oob compared to the sample, but it blends well and I still smell all the elements I love.

I put it in cold process soap and perfumes. It soaped really well, no acceleration, no ricing. Not sure if it discolored at all because I did incorporate browns in my design. Has held up really well so far as scent retention is concerned.

EXTREMELY delicate and light. Not great hot throw, very soft. However, I still love it. The new description explaining that it is the scent of a paperback book really brings it into perspective. I love it for that. Its bookish and niche. However, it really is just SO SO faint. I want this scent to stay around because I love it, but its SO faint.

This is a mysterious Fo. I wanted to like it. The people who love it really love it. I’m one of those who cannot smell it. Zero out of the bottle and only the ghost of a scent on a test strip. Like a scent from long ago that I can’t seem to pin down while my nose chases it. This makes me sad as I am all about fragrances and I have never run into one I couldn’t detect before. Weird.

I'm not sure why this one doesn't have 5 stars but this one is my absolute favorite. Very nice in everything. One of my biggest sellers. I have only had a few people tell me they didn't like it but I love it. Please never get rid of this one.

I got a lil sniff sample of this in my first order and I swear to Holy Hera my eyelids fluttered and my eyes rolled backwards into my skull, and continue to do so every time a take a whiff. This is the sexiest masculine scent that has ever entered my nostrils. It's a sophisticated but younger masculine scent (vs something more matured/gentlemanly), like imagine what a gent like Henry Cavill would smell like. Anyways, I couldn't get enough of the scent and I turned around and snatched a bottle. It's currently curing in some wax tarts so I can send out to my lil batch of scent testers. I CANNOT STOP GOING INTO MY STUDIO TO SMELL IT. If I demand my hubs to wear this once I branch into perfumery, he's going to be in for some seriously good trouble.

I will pass out and die if this gets discontinued EVER. So like, PLEASE get this if you want a gorgeous masculine scent that belongs on a guy in his prime, and not your suave grandfather.

I wanted to like this more than I ultimately did. Not sure if it's the ambrette seed, but this settled into a scent that reminded me of cheap hairspray. Tested in soy wax, hoping it would mellow, but the sharpness only increased. Others may like it, but not for me.

Mixed review here...

So, I'm also the 1 star review. And now a 5 star. Take the average, I guess. This fragrance comes out in CP. It's pretty much nonexistent otb... BUT really shines in soap. I blended it with a strong lemon FO... And it's magic. It adds an addictive perfume quality that earns a 5 star. It does discolor purple. Otherwise behaves. It's a great fragrance, but only in the right application imho. I can definitely see where it would disappear in some applications.

I literally put some directly on my skin (I know I'm not susposed to but dire circumstances called for it dang it) and still can't smell much. Maybe a bit of leather and dusty warehouse?? Idk how to use it when it's this weak. So sad. With how amazing scent memory fragrances are, there is no way that this FO is in spec.
