About Fragrance Oil
  • The fragrance oils sold by Scent Memory are a manufacturing product. They are not skin safe on their own and must be diluted prior to use. 
  • Our oils are formulated to generally work in candle and body care applications, but must be tested for compatibility in your product. 
  • Due to the concentration of the oils safety precautions must be taken when handling them. 

What are fragrance oils?

Fragrance oils are synthetic or blended aromatic compounds designed to mimic natural scents or create entirely new ones. Unlike essential oils, which are extracted from plants, fragrance oils are crafted by blending aromatic chemicals and natural extracts. This careful formulation allows for a wide range of scents that may not be possible to achieve with essential oils alone and also allows for greater safety and performance in their applications. 

How Can Fragrance Oils Be Used?

Though they smell beautiful on their own, fragrance oils are a manufacturing product and must be diluted prior to use. They can be formulated for one specific purpose (such as for soap or in a candle) or for a wider range of applications - however, no one fragrance oil will work in ALL applications, so testing your products is a must. The fragrance oils that Scent Memory Fragrance offer are generally formulated to be safe in candle and body care applications. 

Are Fragrance Oils Safe On Their Own?

Just like any concentrated product, care must be used in handling fragrance oils prior to dilution in product. Every fragrance oil product page contains the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) in the "Regulatory Documents" tab. Download and review prior to using the fragrance oil. 
Safety Information
  • Fragrance oils are a manufacturing product used in making candles, soap and other products. They must be diluted before use.
  • Refer to the IFRA tab for maximum skin safety usage rates, and review the IFRA document carefully. 
  • Maximum usage rates refer to skin safety percentages only and are not recommendations for usage rates in products or formulas. Refer to your formula for the recommended usage rate, and do not use the fragrance oil if the IFRA rate is not rated highly enough for use in your product. 
  • Download and review the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) document provided in the IFRA & SDS tab. Follow all safety guidelines recommended. Do not allow contact with skin or ingest. Follow all IFRA guidelines for dilution in product.  Care should be used in handling at all times.

For our Canadian Friends: we highly recommend Shippsy.com as a package forwarder. UPS charges very high brokerage fees and duty on oils even if they are manufactured in the United States. Shippsy will not charge these fees if a commercial invoice showing the oil origin is provided. We are happy to provide this upon request. You are responsible to ensure all import regulations are followed, including documentation and product approval. Scent Memory is responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

International Shipping: At this time Scent Memory only ships within the United States and its territories. We are responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

Shipping Policy: Scent Memory ships orders through the United States Postal Service and UPS. All orders are assigned tracking numbers which are transmitted to the customer within 24 hours of shipping.

Orders that are marked as delivered by the shipping carrier are considered complete. Scent Memory is not responsible for stolen or missing packages after the carrier conveys delivered status. Individuals should work with their local post office or UPS location to identify exact location of delivery.

Returned Packages: In the event of a returned package due to undeliverable location, customer refusal or incorrect address, Scent Memory will send the customer and invoice for redelivery. If this is not paid, a refund on the purchase will be made minus the original delivery fee.

Damaged Packages: In the event of a damaged package please contact info@scentmemoryfragrance.com with pictures of the packaging and the product, with a description of and the extent of the damage. This is required for Scent Memory to file a shipping damage claim.

So Fresh!

The smell of fresh tomato vine! It does accelerate a bit in CP soap. I keep it simple with one color. The scent retention is strong by itself. But I have also added a bit of mint fragrance oil from another supplier to other batches that I am trying to use up. Then I plan on switching to Menthe Vert. I cannot speak to discoloration as I purchased this as 24 ounces of “the dark stuff”.

Smells like what you would expect, but with a somewhat clean smell which I was not expecting. It reminded me of a Myers hand soap and I felt inspired to use it for hand soap. I would love to blend this with a basil-forward herb oil for hand soap, but thus far I haven't found one on the site that I think will work.

Fresh AF and just delightful. I struggled for months trying to formulate a wandering-in-the-woods scent for my candle line, i tried a 10-15 different oils and wasn’t satisfied. I tried it with tomato vine and another SM fragrance and am truly happy with it now. It adds freshness and depth that’s unmatched.

I agree with the below comment this is candle great for the kitchen has a pretty, clean botanical and bright quality to it. Tested in soy in my nyc home where i really have not kitchen and didn't love it for a general home or even bathroom scent. So i like the scent just not sure what I'd do with it...I don't make soap but imagine it may be most appropriate there, I'd love for my hands to smell like this.

This is 100% the smell on your hands after you've rubbed against a tomato leaf or vine. It is fantastically true to the name. My only problem is I don't know how the heck to use it LOL. My plan is to put it in a garden themed soap but I just don't know what my customers are going to think. It might take some creative marketing but the oil itself is phenomenal.

To me, this is an earthy green scent with a background note of tomato. It is delicious with the just right spices to make you think more fresh chopped tomato salad and less tangy pizza sauce. If you've ever grown or picked tomatoes in the garden, you will be instantly transported back to that time. I've blended it with just a little SM Garden Greens, lit that coconut wax candle, and pretended that I was enjoying a little al fresco meal in the streets of Rome. Its really wonderful for spring or summer (or anytime for your favorite chef).
