About Fragrance Oil
  • The fragrance oils sold by Scent Memory are a manufacturing product. They are not skin safe on their own and must be diluted prior to use. 
  • Our oils are formulated to generally work in candle and body care applications, but must be tested for compatibility in your product. 
  • Due to the concentration of the oils safety precautions must be taken when handling them. 

What are fragrance oils?

Fragrance oils are synthetic or blended aromatic compounds designed to mimic natural scents or create entirely new ones. Unlike essential oils, which are extracted from plants, fragrance oils are crafted by blending aromatic chemicals and natural extracts. This careful formulation allows for a wide range of scents that may not be possible to achieve with essential oils alone and also allows for greater safety and performance in their applications. 

How Can Fragrance Oils Be Used?

Though they smell beautiful on their own, fragrance oils are a manufacturing product and must be diluted prior to use. They can be formulated for one specific purpose (such as for soap or in a candle) or for a wider range of applications - however, no one fragrance oil will work in ALL applications, so testing your products is a must. The fragrance oils that Scent Memory Fragrance offer are generally formulated to be safe in candle and body care applications. 

Are Fragrance Oils Safe On Their Own?

Just like any concentrated product, care must be used in handling fragrance oils prior to dilution in product. Every fragrance oil product page contains the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) in the "Regulatory Documents" tab. Download and review prior to using the fragrance oil.

  • Fragrance oils are a manufacturing product used in making candles, soap and other products. They must be diluted before use.
  • Refer to the IFRA tab for maximum skin safety usage rates, and review the IFRA document carefully. 
  • Maximum usage rates refer to skin safety percentages only and are not recommendations for usage rates in products or formulas. Refer to your formula for the recommended usage rate, and do not use the fragrance oil if the IFRA rate is not rated highly enough for use in your product. 
  • Download and review the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) document provided in the IFRA & SDS tab. Follow all safety guidelines recommended. Do not allow contact with skin or ingest. Follow all IFRA guidelines for dilution in product.  Care should be used in handling at all times.

For our Canadian Friends: we highly recommend Shippsy.com as a package forwarder. UPS charges very high brokerage fees and duty on oils even if they are manufactured in the United States. Shippsy will not charge these fees if a commercial invoice showing the oil origin is provided. We are happy to provide this upon request. You are responsible to ensure all import regulations are followed, including documentation and product approval. Scent Memory is responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

International Shipping: At this time Scent Memory only ships within the United States and its territories. We are responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

Shipping Policy: Scent Memory ships orders through the United States Postal Service and UPS. All orders are assigned tracking numbers which are transmitted to the customer within 24 hours of shipping.

Orders that are marked as delivered by the shipping carrier are considered complete. Scent Memory is not responsible for stolen or missing packages after the carrier conveys delivered status. Individuals should work with their local post office or UPS location to identify exact location of delivery.

Returned Packages: In the event of a returned package due to undeliverable location, customer refusal or incorrect address, Scent Memory will send the customer and invoice for redelivery. If this is not paid, a refund on the purchase will be made minus the original delivery fee.

Damaged Packages: In the event of a damaged package please contact info@scentmemoryfragrance.com with pictures of the packaging and the product, with a description of and the extent of the damage. This is required for Scent Memory to file a shipping damage claim.

I just love this scent! It smells amazing in both wax melts and goat milk cold process soap. I’ve made two batches of soap a year apart using the same fragrance percentage. The first batch has strong scent retention, but the second one isn’t quite as strong. Not sure what caused the difference, but overall, it’s still one of my favorites!

I have been looking for a dupe of Bath and Body Works' Sunset Desert and this is pretty close to it. It was originally out as 'Peppered Plum' which I think would also be a name for this fragrance. It's so beautiful, it's one of the prettiest fragrances I've ever smelled. I've never smelled Pomegranate Noir but I've read that the BBW fragrance was heavily inspired by that Jo Malone classic. I cannot recommend it enough. It has a juicy pomegranate note off the top, the pepper is not too strong and the patchouli really elevates it, almost to a hotel or signature home fragrance. It's just so beautiful, can't recommend it enough.

This is the best patchouli! Very true to name - the juicy pomegranate balances the patchouli so nicely. It worked perfectly in CP soap and was one of my strongest scents for scent retention.

Ripe pomegranate and Patchouli is probably one of my top 5 personal favorites from Scent Memory! The pomegranate is so juicy and bright, that in itself is delectable, but the way it complements and dances with the patchouli, guaic wood and opoponax is intoxicating. I think this is such a sexy, juicy, feminine fragrance. I maaaay have worn it as a perfume for 3 months straight, it's just that irresistible! I think it makes for a beautiful autumn scent, but it's totally usable year round!

I don't think I'll ever get over Ripe Pomegranate and Patchouli. Such a beautiful and complex scent, yet so comforting at the same time! I love the pepper notes, most of all, as it has been one of my all-time favorite notes over the past decade of crafting perfumes.

I'm kicking myself for not ordering this fragrance sooner. It's beautifully rich and complex, ripe and juicy but dark and mysterious. I'm moderately obsessed with this one. It's already being slated for several of my products. I could see how it would have an appeal to the fall, but I think this is an all-season type of fragrance for those of us who enjoy the deep fragrances.

This is a dead ringer for Jo Malone pomegranate noir. The scent is beautiful and not too heavy. I am giving it four starts only because I couldn’t get a strong heat throw in a candle. I love the scent and have made it in a room spray and perfume and it is lovely.

A dark, slightly juicy, almost figgy smelling woodsy scent. I don't consider it a holiday fragrance at all. Its not super sweet and juicy, its nothing close to a gourmand. Its more dark and spicy, with just a hint of fruit.

I really, really like this one! I was a bit thrown off by some of the other reviews. Partially I may have been misinterpreting some of what is written below. First, I would consider this a year round fragrance. I could see how somebody would want to promote it in the fall but it is not a seasonal scent to my nose. I also don't get a lot of clove which would kind of turn me off. I hesitated for a long time to try it but realize now there was nothing to be afraid of with this great fragrance!

Perfectly autumnal

This is one of my favorites when the weather starts to turn. It’s earthy, with a slight tart fruitiness. I make cold process soap and other body care things with it. It’s lovely in soap, no acceleration, ricing, or discoloration that I’ve noticed and scent retention is great.

I tried it in soap - not A, R or D - but the smell is coming off chemically to my nose. It may be better suited for wax melts, lotions, bath bombs or perfume?

A bit heavy

First smell of this fragrance was spice--a lot of spice- clove to be exact! I'm not a big fan of spice in perfume but if you like the heavy smell of rhubarb, pink pepper and clove this is the fragrance for you.
