About Fragrance Oil
  • The fragrance oils sold by Scent Memory are a manufacturing product. They are not skin safe on their own and must be diluted prior to use. 
  • Our oils are formulated to generally work in candle and body care applications, but must be tested for compatibility in your product. 
  • Due to the concentration of the oils safety precautions must be taken when handling them. 

What are fragrance oils?

Fragrance oils are synthetic or blended aromatic compounds designed to mimic natural scents or create entirely new ones. Unlike essential oils, which are extracted from plants, fragrance oils are crafted by blending aromatic chemicals and natural extracts. This careful formulation allows for a wide range of scents that may not be possible to achieve with essential oils alone and also allows for greater safety and performance in their applications. 

How Can Fragrance Oils Be Used?

Though they smell beautiful on their own, fragrance oils are a manufacturing product and must be diluted prior to use. They can be formulated for one specific purpose (such as for soap or in a candle) or for a wider range of applications - however, no one fragrance oil will work in ALL applications, so testing your products is a must. The fragrance oils that Scent Memory Fragrance offer are generally formulated to be safe in candle and body care applications. 

Are Fragrance Oils Safe On Their Own?

Just like any concentrated product, care must be used in handling fragrance oils prior to dilution in product. Every fragrance oil product page contains the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) in the "Regulatory Documents" tab. Download and review prior to using the fragrance oil.

  • Fragrance oils are a manufacturing product used in making candles, soap and other products. They must be diluted before use.
  • Refer to the IFRA tab for maximum skin safety usage rates, and review the IFRA document carefully. 
  • Maximum usage rates refer to skin safety percentages only and are not recommendations for usage rates in products or formulas. Refer to your formula for the recommended usage rate, and do not use the fragrance oil if the IFRA rate is not rated highly enough for use in your product. 
  • Download and review the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) document provided in the IFRA & SDS tab. Follow all safety guidelines recommended. Do not allow contact with skin or ingest. Follow all IFRA guidelines for dilution in product.  Care should be used in handling at all times.

For our Canadian Friends: we highly recommend Shippsy.com as a package forwarder. UPS charges very high brokerage fees and duty on oils even if they are manufactured in the United States. Shippsy will not charge these fees if a commercial invoice showing the oil origin is provided. We are happy to provide this upon request. You are responsible to ensure all import regulations are followed, including documentation and product approval. Scent Memory is responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

International Shipping: At this time Scent Memory only ships within the United States and its territories. We are responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

Shipping Policy: Scent Memory ships orders through the United States Postal Service and UPS. All orders are assigned tracking numbers which are transmitted to the customer within 24 hours of shipping.

Orders that are marked as delivered by the shipping carrier are considered complete. Scent Memory is not responsible for stolen or missing packages after the carrier conveys delivered status. Individuals should work with their local post office or UPS location to identify exact location of delivery.

Returned Packages: In the event of a returned package due to undeliverable location, customer refusal or incorrect address, Scent Memory will send the customer and invoice for redelivery. If this is not paid, a refund on the purchase will be made minus the original delivery fee.

Damaged Packages: In the event of a damaged package please contact info@scentmemoryfragrance.com with pictures of the packaging and the product, with a description of and the extent of the damage. This is required for Scent Memory to file a shipping damage claim.

I haven't tried it on its own yet, but out of the bottle, it smells wonderful. I'm going to make some candles on its own, but for now I have paired it with chocolate noir, and it smells like a chocolate croissant. My wife thought I was in the kitchen baking when I poured the candles. It appeared as if it might be too light of a scent, but when I burned the test candles, the chocolate did not overpower the very true scent of pastry covered in butter. It is an amazing scent.

If you’re looking for a gourmand, mouth watering pastry FO with depth, this is the one. It mixes beautifully with fruit forward scents, the best so far for me being a mix with Berry Compote.

I had been looking for some gourmand scents to add to a new patisserie collection and had this on my wishlist for a bit. I finally ordered the 8oz and the Berry Compote, as well. I poured the LA BOULANGERIE candle and also a 75% LA BOULANGERIE 25% Berry compote candle. Just the scents on a test strip are unbelievable, let alone in products. I couldn't wait and lit them both after 24 hours. These are small candles - I poured half of an 8oz jar and they each filled up a good size room. (I use the 16/17 #9 wax.) I'm so excited about these and can't wait to debut them at my next market. I named them Croissant au buerre & Croissant aux Baies

An absolute stunner. I can't even imagine a better freshly baked bread scent. I added 25% vanille absolute to make a dessert pastry. The CT is strong—I often gets whiffs of it unexpectedly. The HT is great (not nuclear, but just right).

This is a straight up glazed donut from Dat Donut on Cottage Grove in Chicago. I can feel the crackling glaze on my fingers, smell baked dough so soft it makes your gums ache. Do not pass go, do not collect $200, go directly to checkout with the biggest bottle you can afford.

This scent is unlike any scent I have ever smelled in an FO. It is spot on delicious buttery fluffy soft and crispy croissants but not so much so that it is gonna smell strange in a candle. I was shocked but this was my favorite scent I’ve smelled from SM. Need to get in wax asap! Delicious!

Dude.. because every person on the planet needs a candle that smells exactly like buttered toast, right? Or a warm, buttery, flaky croissant? There’s not so much more to say about this perfect butter, salt, bread scent combo besides that it’s unique and not something I thought I would love as much as I do ...except that it works very well in coconut wax. Also, if you’re really hungry, blend this with berry compote to add a little jelly to your toast and thank me later.

OOB it smell exactly like a flaky, buttery, warm croissant! In a pillar candle I feel some of the notes are more hidden, but it wax melts all the notes are there. I'm still testing this scent to find an overall bakery scent.
