About Fragrance Oil
  • The fragrance oils sold by Scent Memory are a manufacturing product. They are not skin safe on their own and must be diluted prior to use. 
  • Our oils are formulated to generally work in candle and body care applications, but must be tested for compatibility in your product. 
  • Due to the concentration of the oils safety precautions must be taken when handling them. 

What are fragrance oils?

Fragrance oils are synthetic or blended aromatic compounds designed to mimic natural scents or create entirely new ones. Unlike essential oils, which are extracted from plants, fragrance oils are crafted by blending aromatic chemicals and natural extracts. This careful formulation allows for a wide range of scents that may not be possible to achieve with essential oils alone and also allows for greater safety and performance in their applications. 

How Can Fragrance Oils Be Used?

Though they smell beautiful on their own, fragrance oils are a manufacturing product and must be diluted prior to use. They can be formulated for one specific purpose (such as for soap or in a candle) or for a wider range of applications - however, no one fragrance oil will work in ALL applications, so testing your products is a must. The fragrance oils that Scent Memory Fragrance offer are generally formulated to be safe in candle and body care applications. 

Are Fragrance Oils Safe On Their Own?

Just like any concentrated product, care must be used in handling fragrance oils prior to dilution in product. Every fragrance oil product page contains the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) in the "Regulatory Documents" tab. Download and review prior to using the fragrance oil.

  • Fragrance oils are a manufacturing product used in making candles, soap and other products. They must be diluted before use.
  • Refer to the IFRA tab for maximum skin safety usage rates, and review the IFRA document carefully. 
  • Maximum usage rates refer to skin safety percentages only and are not recommendations for usage rates in products or formulas. Refer to your formula for the recommended usage rate, and do not use the fragrance oil if the IFRA rate is not rated highly enough for use in your product. 
  • Download and review the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) document provided in the IFRA & SDS tab. Follow all safety guidelines recommended. Do not allow contact with skin or ingest. Follow all IFRA guidelines for dilution in product.  Care should be used in handling at all times.

For our Canadian Friends: we highly recommend Shippsy.com as a package forwarder. UPS charges very high brokerage fees and duty on oils even if they are manufactured in the United States. Shippsy will not charge these fees if a commercial invoice showing the oil origin is provided. We are happy to provide this upon request. You are responsible to ensure all import regulations are followed, including documentation and product approval. Scent Memory is responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

International Shipping: At this time Scent Memory only ships within the United States and its territories. We are responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

Shipping Policy: Scent Memory ships orders through the United States Postal Service and UPS. All orders are assigned tracking numbers which are transmitted to the customer within 24 hours of shipping.

Orders that are marked as delivered by the shipping carrier are considered complete. Scent Memory is not responsible for stolen or missing packages after the carrier conveys delivered status. Individuals should work with their local post office or UPS location to identify exact location of delivery.

Returned Packages: In the event of a returned package due to undeliverable location, customer refusal or incorrect address, Scent Memory will send the customer and invoice for redelivery. If this is not paid, a refund on the purchase will be made minus the original delivery fee.

Damaged Packages: In the event of a damaged package please contact info@scentmemoryfragrance.com with pictures of the packaging and the product, with a description of and the extent of the damage. This is required for Scent Memory to file a shipping damage claim.

Great for incense, not CP

I bought this with the intention of making soap but it did not work well for me. Little to no scent retention. However it works wonderfully for incense, and I’m so glad I gave it a second try.

I just re-ordered more. This is a very complex scent. It does have a lavender note in the background and is perfect for people who don't normally like lavender. I would love to get this into bath and body products as well as home fragrance.

Okay, so this scent is… hard to describe. Is it mysterious? Yes. Is it intriguing? Also yes.

I thought I’d use it in soap. That was the plan. But then I took a whiff, and suddenly I was rethinking everything. So, I went with perfume instead, and honestly? I *might* order more to do some CP testing.

It’s unique, complex, and kind of hypnotizing—like if a scent could be a mysterious stranger in a noir film who knows exactly how you take your coffee. I’m in love. Would recommend. Would possibly write poetry about it.

Beautifully sophisticated, with the lavender and the coffee prevailing over the pastry notes. An excellent dupe, but this one has better lasting power over the original :) Worked well in soap and would always make the whole bathroom smell amazing, like a Parisian cafe. PLEASE never discontinue this one!!

I love Lavender Latte 😭 it’s like stepping into a nice cafe (like a nice old one with wood furniture, not one of these new airplane hanger places) and the barista is making lavender syrup and cranking out lattes. This one is amazing!

I am so incredibly picky with anything lavender. I prefer a more herbal to the heavy floral. This blend is STUNNING and elegant.

Very subtle. Based on the notes, seems like there are many facets in this blend, however, out of the bottle, I wasn’t able to pull out most of the listed notes, but rather just smelled a somewhat nuanced lavender.

I love this fragrance! I pick up on the slightest bit of a powdery note, but aside from that it’s almost purely lavender and latte. My customers love the “milk froth” scent note I put in its description, and I think it’s a fun and unique selling point!

This is a great creamy lavender, but not a great latte or coffee shop scent in my opinion. While the fragrance description does note that it isn't a coffee scent, I'm not quite getting "cafe" at all from it. I feel like the lavender and sandalwood are the strongest notes here. As a blender with more coffee added (like cafe americano) I like it!

I love this fragrance oil to death, and I make all the body care goods with this—EXCEPT SOAP. It is very, very naughty in soap. It accelerated like crazy and riced in cold process. It smells soooooo delicious though, especially mixed a couple other oils.

As the review says, this one is light in melts. It's a soft scent, so that's to be expected. Very pretty in perfume and room spray bases. It would also make a nice lotion. Not a coffee scent. It does, however, put off the vibe of someplace I would go to sip coffee/tea and read a book while a coffee house music mix played softly in the background.

Scents of fresh baked pastries dominates this one - with a verily soft blend of assorted coffees and teas in the background. So far, I’ve only used this in aroma bead bags - but they are a huge seller!
