About Fragrance Oil
  • The fragrance oils sold by Scent Memory are a manufacturing product. They are not skin safe on their own and must be diluted prior to use. 
  • Our oils are formulated to generally work in candle and body care applications, but must be tested for compatibility in your product. 
  • Due to the concentration of the oils safety precautions must be taken when handling them. 

What are fragrance oils?

Fragrance oils are synthetic or blended aromatic compounds designed to mimic natural scents or create entirely new ones. Unlike essential oils, which are extracted from plants, fragrance oils are crafted by blending aromatic chemicals and natural extracts. This careful formulation allows for a wide range of scents that may not be possible to achieve with essential oils alone and also allows for greater safety and performance in their applications. 

How Can Fragrance Oils Be Used?

Though they smell beautiful on their own, fragrance oils are a manufacturing product and must be diluted prior to use. They can be formulated for one specific purpose (such as for soap or in a candle) or for a wider range of applications - however, no one fragrance oil will work in ALL applications, so testing your products is a must. The fragrance oils that Scent Memory Fragrance offer are generally formulated to be safe in candle and body care applications. 

Are Fragrance Oils Safe On Their Own?

Just like any concentrated product, care must be used in handling fragrance oils prior to dilution in product. Every fragrance oil product page contains the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) in the "Regulatory Documents" tab. Download and review prior to using the fragrance oil.

  • Fragrance oils are a manufacturing product used in making candles, soap and other products. They must be diluted before use.
  • Refer to the IFRA tab for maximum skin safety usage rates, and review the IFRA document carefully. 
  • Maximum usage rates refer to skin safety percentages only and are not recommendations for usage rates in products or formulas. Refer to your formula for the recommended usage rate, and do not use the fragrance oil if the IFRA rate is not rated highly enough for use in your product. 
  • Download and review the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) document provided in the IFRA & SDS tab. Follow all safety guidelines recommended. Do not allow contact with skin or ingest. Follow all IFRA guidelines for dilution in product.  Care should be used in handling at all times.

For our Canadian Friends: we highly recommend Shippsy.com as a package forwarder. UPS charges very high brokerage fees and duty on oils even if they are manufactured in the United States. Shippsy will not charge these fees if a commercial invoice showing the oil origin is provided. We are happy to provide this upon request. You are responsible to ensure all import regulations are followed, including documentation and product approval. Scent Memory is responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

International Shipping: At this time Scent Memory only ships within the United States and its territories. We are responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

Shipping Policy: Scent Memory ships orders through the United States Postal Service and UPS. All orders are assigned tracking numbers which are transmitted to the customer within 24 hours of shipping.

Orders that are marked as delivered by the shipping carrier are considered complete. Scent Memory is not responsible for stolen or missing packages after the carrier conveys delivered status. Individuals should work with their local post office or UPS location to identify exact location of delivery.

Returned Packages: In the event of a returned package due to undeliverable location, customer refusal or incorrect address, Scent Memory will send the customer and invoice for redelivery. If this is not paid, a refund on the purchase will be made minus the original delivery fee.

Damaged Packages: In the event of a damaged package please contact info@scentmemoryfragrance.com with pictures of the packaging and the product, with a description of and the extent of the damage. This is required for Scent Memory to file a shipping damage claim.

This soaped like an absolute dream. I did soap at 5% FO load and I might up it a smidge in the future because it's a little lighter than I prefer. But if you have customers who like a lighter fragrance I think they'd enjoy it at that rate. Zero acceleration, ricing, or seizing. It did morph a little but I expected that so I kept my accent colors unscented. It's beautiful and I can't wait to add it to a room spray and some wax melts this fall.

This scent works beautifully in a candle. It does take a little longer to cure time - give it three weeks or so in soy. I find it to be more of a unisex or masculine scent. It smells like an attractive man in an expensive sweater to me. Because of that, I decided to make some cologne with it for my husband. It didn't turn out great... I don't know if it's the oil itself or how it reacts with my husband's body chemistry, but the scent I got from it as a candle just didn't translate well onto his skin. Tragic, really.

Cozy and atmospheric, I definitely smell a savory spice note. I assume that's the combo of cardamom and pepper, so I can't fault it. Just keep note that this can almost smell like a premixed spice blend in certain applications.

Not a favorite

I didn't have a lot of success with this one. In a candle the HT was a bit weak for me. In soap, I got an almost savory, smoked spice. Maybe there was something off with my batch of soap. Another reviewer seemed to have good results in soap. I'm sure there are good applications for this FO but it wasn't as easy to get it right as my 5 star Scent Memory purchases

Mellow & Spicy

This one is sweet and delicious. I used it in soap and it behaved wonderfully. It did come out of the mold with yellow edges, but two weeks into cure and those are back to purple & the smell is still great. I am putting it into perfume today & can't wait to try it.

There's a hint of autumn, the feeling of comfort under a blanket by the fire, maybe not alone... I don't necessarily think it would have to be only a fall scent. I would definitely burn it in a candle all year round cause I'm just like that. Don't sleep on this one, you will not be disappointed.

Stunning spice

I don’t usually write reviews but this one is just such a great oil. I actually ordered the original Trudon candle to get a idea of the oil before it came out. This version is far superior to the actual brand itself. Super spicy and mysterious!

So out the bottle, if I'm honest, my initial impressions was "this is generic". Ok... There is the cardamom but nothing else really grabbed me. BUT in CP soap it comes alive. I guess I need to expect this from these awesome SM fragrances. It soaped well. I am noticing some yellow discoloration. The kind that is common in perfume type scents where the discoloration starts on the outside and never really fully discolors. So be prepared for that.
