About Fragrance Oil
  • The fragrance oils sold by Scent Memory are a manufacturing product. They are not skin safe on their own and must be diluted prior to use. 
  • Our oils are formulated to generally work in candle and body care applications, but must be tested for compatibility in your product. 
  • Due to the concentration of the oils safety precautions must be taken when handling them. 

What are fragrance oils?

Fragrance oils are synthetic or blended aromatic compounds designed to mimic natural scents or create entirely new ones. Unlike essential oils, which are extracted from plants, fragrance oils are crafted by blending aromatic chemicals and natural extracts. This careful formulation allows for a wide range of scents that may not be possible to achieve with essential oils alone and also allows for greater safety and performance in their applications. 

How Can Fragrance Oils Be Used?

Though they smell beautiful on their own, fragrance oils are a manufacturing product and must be diluted prior to use. They can be formulated for one specific purpose (such as for soap or in a candle) or for a wider range of applications - however, no one fragrance oil will work in ALL applications, so testing your products is a must. The fragrance oils that Scent Memory Fragrance offer are generally formulated to be safe in candle and body care applications. 

Are Fragrance Oils Safe On Their Own?

Just like any concentrated product, care must be used in handling fragrance oils prior to dilution in product. Every fragrance oil product page contains the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) in the "Regulatory Documents" tab. Download and review prior to using the fragrance oil.

  • Fragrance oils are a manufacturing product used in making candles, soap and other products. They must be diluted before use.
  • Refer to the IFRA tab for maximum skin safety usage rates, and review the IFRA document carefully. 
  • Maximum usage rates refer to skin safety percentages only and are not recommendations for usage rates in products or formulas. Refer to your formula for the recommended usage rate, and do not use the fragrance oil if the IFRA rate is not rated highly enough for use in your product. 
  • Download and review the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) document provided in the IFRA & SDS tab. Follow all safety guidelines recommended. Do not allow contact with skin or ingest. Follow all IFRA guidelines for dilution in product.  Care should be used in handling at all times.

For our Canadian Friends: we highly recommend Shippsy.com as a package forwarder. UPS charges very high brokerage fees and duty on oils even if they are manufactured in the United States. Shippsy will not charge these fees if a commercial invoice showing the oil origin is provided. We are happy to provide this upon request. You are responsible to ensure all import regulations are followed, including documentation and product approval. Scent Memory is responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

International Shipping: At this time Scent Memory only ships within the United States and its territories. We are responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

Shipping Policy: Scent Memory ships orders through the United States Postal Service and UPS. All orders are assigned tracking numbers which are transmitted to the customer within 24 hours of shipping.

Orders that are marked as delivered by the shipping carrier are considered complete. Scent Memory is not responsible for stolen or missing packages after the carrier conveys delivered status. Individuals should work with their local post office or UPS location to identify exact location of delivery.

Returned Packages: In the event of a returned package due to undeliverable location, customer refusal or incorrect address, Scent Memory will send the customer and invoice for redelivery. If this is not paid, a refund on the purchase will be made minus the original delivery fee.

Damaged Packages: In the event of a damaged package please contact info@scentmemoryfragrance.com with pictures of the packaging and the product, with a description of and the extent of the damage. This is required for Scent Memory to file a shipping damage claim.

This one is blended so well it's tough to tell the notes apart. I get a girly A floral smooth sandalwood musk. What it evokes for me is the scent that the debutante cheerleader would don, definitely rings pink. Super pretty and my olfactory senses go back to 2006. Love it.

I walked into the Dptque store yesterday... Yup. This smells EXACTLY the same as in the store. It made me so happy! :) This is indeed VELVET sandalwood. Very smooth, calming, and cozy... I use this as a blender. It's amazing. I've blended this with some rose, citrus types, warm vanilla, and with some of the other masculine fragrance oils I have. You can still smell the sandalwood (especially if you love sandalwood like my son does), but it transforms those other scents into something else. Haven't poured candles with this yet, but I've made 4 different blends in room sprays, body washes, and oil, and I've made my son love me again.

Woah! This is absolute luxury in a bottle. I cannot get enough and it's easily my new fave! I have it going in my open concept, it's strong and so lovely. Right now it's just in my warmer and a room spray but I will be adding it to body products and making perfume.

Lovely soft sandalwood! It's been too long since I've smelled the Diptyque to compare it to the original, but it's very pretty regardless. Good throw at 8% in 6006. I think it will be good for blending, too!

Never in my life did I think I would describe a woodsy scent as milky, but that changes today. It's so smooth that this scent actually surprised me. I made it for Father's Day and now I'm pretty sure my husband needs to bathe in it. A well-placed rose scent in a masculine scent absolutely sends me and the one is velvet sandalwood is perfectly placed. This scent is for sure velvety and all the woods!

Today is Mother’s Day May 12th 2023. I made a tester candle for my line the night before Mather day. A friend of my wife can over and smell the candle I made ( VELVET SANDALWOOD ). She was like . I came here just to review this scent and was excited to see I can get points for it! This sandalwood is the best one I have experienced since the real thing. I was looking for a sandalwood specifically for soap because it is so popular but most are just too resinous, too much vanilla, too much patchouli, always with tobacco- and the list goes on. This is just pure to me. It does NOT discolor in cold process soap or accelerate. It was a dream to work with. After cure its even better than OOB.

It works great for CP!! Behaves and no discoloration. It also didn't fade, even though it's not a super (or obnoxious) fragrance. This is one (if not the only) sandalwood FO that does not discolor. I did not make a candle, but feel this fragrance can go in pretty much every thing.

I prayed to the fragrance gods that this one would be perfect and it is! So happy I found this. It threw well but burned a little hot so I’m going to wick down.
