About Fragrance Oil
  • The fragrance oils sold by Scent Memory are a manufacturing product. They are not skin safe on their own and must be diluted prior to use. 
  • Our oils are formulated to generally work in candle and body care applications, but must be tested for compatibility in your product. 
  • Due to the concentration of the oils safety precautions must be taken when handling them. 

What are fragrance oils?

Fragrance oils are synthetic or blended aromatic compounds designed to mimic natural scents or create entirely new ones. Unlike essential oils, which are extracted from plants, fragrance oils are crafted by blending aromatic chemicals and natural extracts. This careful formulation allows for a wide range of scents that may not be possible to achieve with essential oils alone and also allows for greater safety and performance in their applications. 

How Can Fragrance Oils Be Used?

Though they smell beautiful on their own, fragrance oils are a manufacturing product and must be diluted prior to use. They can be formulated for one specific purpose (such as for soap or in a candle) or for a wider range of applications - however, no one fragrance oil will work in ALL applications, so testing your products is a must. The fragrance oils that Scent Memory Fragrance offer are generally formulated to be safe in candle and body care applications. 

Are Fragrance Oils Safe On Their Own?

Just like any concentrated product, care must be used in handling fragrance oils prior to dilution in product. Every fragrance oil product page contains the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) in the "Regulatory Documents" tab. Download and review prior to using the fragrance oil. 
Safety Information
  • Fragrance oils are a manufacturing product used in making candles, soap and other products. They must be diluted before use.
  • Refer to the IFRA tab for maximum skin safety usage rates, and review the IFRA document carefully. 
  • Maximum usage rates refer to skin safety percentages only and are not recommendations for usage rates in products or formulas. Refer to your formula for the recommended usage rate, and do not use the fragrance oil if the IFRA rate is not rated highly enough for use in your product. 
  • Download and review the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) document provided in the IFRA & SDS tab. Follow all safety guidelines recommended. Do not allow contact with skin or ingest. Follow all IFRA guidelines for dilution in product.  Care should be used in handling at all times.

For our Canadian Friends: we highly recommend Shippsy.com as a package forwarder. UPS charges very high brokerage fees and duty on oils even if they are manufactured in the United States. Shippsy will not charge these fees if a commercial invoice showing the oil origin is provided. We are happy to provide this upon request. You are responsible to ensure all import regulations are followed, including documentation and product approval. Scent Memory is responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

International Shipping: At this time Scent Memory only ships within the United States and its territories. We are responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

Shipping Policy: Scent Memory ships orders through the United States Postal Service and UPS. All orders are assigned tracking numbers which are transmitted to the customer within 24 hours of shipping.

Orders that are marked as delivered by the shipping carrier are considered complete. Scent Memory is not responsible for stolen or missing packages after the carrier conveys delivered status. Individuals should work with their local post office or UPS location to identify exact location of delivery.

Returned Packages: In the event of a returned package due to undeliverable location, customer refusal or incorrect address, Scent Memory will send the customer and invoice for redelivery. If this is not paid, a refund on the purchase will be made minus the original delivery fee.

Damaged Packages: In the event of a damaged package please contact info@scentmemoryfragrance.com with pictures of the packaging and the product, with a description of and the extent of the damage. This is required for Scent Memory to file a shipping damage claim.

I know I'm an outlier here but I found this just terrible. I have palo santo to burn and the essential oil. This definitely doesn't smell like either. I also have essential oils from Himalayan Cedar and Atlas Mountain Cedar.....this smells mostly like Virginia or Texas Cedar......Verrrrry hamster cage to me. I tossed my test candle this weekend. I kept it around around for a few months and tried it a few times. Maybe in soap it makes more sense.

Such a unique scent. Ts hard for me to explain but I would say it does not have a strong Palo santo scent. If you are looking for a more Palo santo forward fragrance this is not it. But it is a very balance woodsy scent.

This is not my favorite but I can see why others like it! To me it does have the “hamster cage wood chip” vibe but if you burn it and use it in other applications it works better.

OOB this is so gorgeous! I live in the PNW and also have a love of Palo Santo. OOB it smells like a great combo of both. I can't wait to get it in wax. While I have Palo Santo EO and use it to diffuse, this doesn't smell like a Palo Santo EO, rather more like a woodsy cologne with Palo Santo in it. I cannot wait to smell it after it has cured!

Luxurious, absolutely. It's all woody smells, but it's also very refined and pure smelling. It doesn't have the dirtiness of a walk in the woods. Instead, I could imagine this as the signature scent of an expensive restaurant or bar. Fantastic.

This is definitely one you have to put in wax to appreciate, it's got a very soothing resin, smokey incense essence. If you want something very earthy and grounded give this one a try.

I love it when SM FO really comes alive in product. I made a candle with this. It burns great and to my nose a smokiness comes out. In soap... The citrus comes out and it's SO beautifully balanced. You get all the notes. I can understand how otb at first whiff one might feel this FO is all patchouli. But don't judge it until it's in product. Definitely recommend this to soap makers. Behaves and only an off white discoloration so far.

By far the best Palo Santo scent I have ever smelled. I have purchased a lot of Palo Santo fragrances but have never understood the hype until now. It’s strong in candles and the ifra for other products is high enough for it to work in other products as well.
