About Fragrance Oil
  • The fragrance oils sold by Scent Memory are a manufacturing product. They are not skin safe on their own and must be diluted prior to use. 
  • Our oils are formulated to generally work in candle and body care applications, but must be tested for compatibility in your product. 
  • Due to the concentration of the oils safety precautions must be taken when handling them. 

What are fragrance oils?

Fragrance oils are synthetic or blended aromatic compounds designed to mimic natural scents or create entirely new ones. Unlike essential oils, which are extracted from plants, fragrance oils are crafted by blending aromatic chemicals and natural extracts. This careful formulation allows for a wide range of scents that may not be possible to achieve with essential oils alone and also allows for greater safety and performance in their applications. 

How Can Fragrance Oils Be Used?

Though they smell beautiful on their own, fragrance oils are a manufacturing product and must be diluted prior to use. They can be formulated for one specific purpose (such as for soap or in a candle) or for a wider range of applications - however, no one fragrance oil will work in ALL applications, so testing your products is a must. The fragrance oils that Scent Memory Fragrance offer are generally formulated to be safe in candle and body care applications. 

Are Fragrance Oils Safe On Their Own?

Just like any concentrated product, care must be used in handling fragrance oils prior to dilution in product. Every fragrance oil product page contains the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) in the "Regulatory Documents" tab. Download and review prior to using the fragrance oil.

  • Fragrance oils are a manufacturing product used in making candles, soap and other products. They must be diluted before use.
  • Refer to the IFRA tab for maximum skin safety usage rates, and review the IFRA document carefully. 
  • Maximum usage rates refer to skin safety percentages only and are not recommendations for usage rates in products or formulas. Refer to your formula for the recommended usage rate, and do not use the fragrance oil if the IFRA rate is not rated highly enough for use in your product. 
  • Download and review the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) document provided in the IFRA & SDS tab. Follow all safety guidelines recommended. Do not allow contact with skin or ingest. Follow all IFRA guidelines for dilution in product.  Care should be used in handling at all times.

For our Canadian Friends: we highly recommend Shippsy.com as a package forwarder. UPS charges very high brokerage fees and duty on oils even if they are manufactured in the United States. Shippsy will not charge these fees if a commercial invoice showing the oil origin is provided. We are happy to provide this upon request. You are responsible to ensure all import regulations are followed, including documentation and product approval. Scent Memory is responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

International Shipping: At this time Scent Memory only ships within the United States and its territories. We are responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

Shipping Policy: Scent Memory ships orders through the United States Postal Service and UPS. All orders are assigned tracking numbers which are transmitted to the customer within 24 hours of shipping.

Orders that are marked as delivered by the shipping carrier are considered complete. Scent Memory is not responsible for stolen or missing packages after the carrier conveys delivered status. Individuals should work with their local post office or UPS location to identify exact location of delivery.

Returned Packages: In the event of a returned package due to undeliverable location, customer refusal or incorrect address, Scent Memory will send the customer and invoice for redelivery. If this is not paid, a refund on the purchase will be made minus the original delivery fee.

Damaged Packages: In the event of a damaged package please contact info@scentmemoryfragrance.com with pictures of the packaging and the product, with a description of and the extent of the damage. This is required for Scent Memory to file a shipping damage claim.

I haven't smelled the original but this is a stunning fragrance. It's on the sweeter side (for me) but it works so well. It's complex and throws beautifully in coco apricot - but if I'm choosing to make it a home fragrance or personal - this is getting in PA very soon.

If I could give this fragrance ten stars and a standing ovation, I would. Tea Leaves and Tobacco smells like the plot twist in a really good novel. It’s a little unexpected, a little mysterious, and deeply satisfying. It’s like if a weathered library and a sunlit greenhouse fell in love and had a very sophisticated, well-balanced baby.

I wear this in a perfume and people stop me to ask what I’m wearing. Not in a “what is that smell?” way but in a “should I be copying the scent notes right now?” way.

This is my second favorite from Scent Memory, right behind Salty Air and Cashmeran, which is frankly the Rolls Royce of fragrance oils. But Tea Leaves and Tobacco is right up there.

To the people giving this anything less than five stars: what is going on? How?!?!

Anyway. Buy it. Wear it. Get compliments.

This is a heavy hitter! I use this fragrance in solid perfumes and candles, unblended. In GB464 at only 6%, it completely fills a room and spills over to adjacent areas. In perfume, it wears well and has good duration. Winner!

I bought a few fragrances from this company because of the reviews and honestly I don’t get it. The scents are no where near strong enough to be used in anything. I really wanted them to work but they are just too faint. I’m going to still try out other scents, but so far none of the scents that I have tried are useable in any of my products.

And yes I did smell other things to make sure it wasn’t my sense of smell going, it is not.

My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE EVER! I will never stop re-buying this oil (I think I’ve already repurchased over 4 times?) Le Labo is one of my favorite fragrance companies and this is SUCH a close scent to their Thé Noir 29, except this version is a touch sweeter and doesn’t necessarily have as strong of a “bite” as the original. For me, this is a win because sharp notes tend to trigger migraines for me and this one doesn’t do that. Anywho, this scent it beyond gorgeous and has amazing CT, HT, and comes to life beautifully in eau de toilettes!

Truth: i fell hard and fast for this scent. I’m partial to scents with earthy, masculine notes but doesn't scream "masculine only" and this one fits the bill, plus. The bergamot top tickles your nose, the hay and tea soften the citrus and gently centers the entire scent. I mean…you had me at cedarwood, but that usual cedar sharpness is softened and grounded with vetiver. This one is simply a scent customers love. I often hear “date night” or “I need this in a perfume.” I feel like it reaches its full potential as a wearable scent (I make a roll on oil) and I like it in a coconut wax candle, where the top notes shine a bit more, changing the overall scent to one that is a little more sweet.

Complex and exotic. This one definitely has the high-end perfume vibe going for it but it isn't my personal favorite. There is a slightly "sour" note that I can't quite get over. But some of my customers really like it so like everything, preference comes into play.

It piques your curiosity, but feels classic at the same time (I, personally, pick up a citrusy tea rose scent, but feel like I might be the only one who does.) I never considered soap, because of the lower IFRA %, but thinking I should reconsider based on the reviews. Already love it in coco-apricot wax.

I started with a candle on this fragrance. Don't judge me, but I just didn't enjoy the candle. I should have come to check reviews for soaping notes, instead I shoved the bottle to the back of my collection and forgot all about it. This fragrance is WONDERFUL in soap!! I would not say that it morphs (that's normally negative for soap makers). Instead I would say that the saponification improves the fragrance. It's magical. Plus no misbehaving. SM really does have some amazing soaping fragrances!!
