About Fragrance Oil
  • The fragrance oils sold by Scent Memory are a manufacturing product. They are not skin safe on their own and must be diluted prior to use. 
  • Our oils are formulated to generally work in candle and body care applications, but must be tested for compatibility in your product. 
  • Due to the concentration of the oils safety precautions must be taken when handling them. 

What are fragrance oils?

Fragrance oils are synthetic or blended aromatic compounds designed to mimic natural scents or create entirely new ones. Unlike essential oils, which are extracted from plants, fragrance oils are crafted by blending aromatic chemicals and natural extracts. This careful formulation allows for a wide range of scents that may not be possible to achieve with essential oils alone and also allows for greater safety and performance in their applications. 

How Can Fragrance Oils Be Used?

Though they smell beautiful on their own, fragrance oils are a manufacturing product and must be diluted prior to use. They can be formulated for one specific purpose (such as for soap or in a candle) or for a wider range of applications - however, no one fragrance oil will work in ALL applications, so testing your products is a must. The fragrance oils that Scent Memory Fragrance offer are generally formulated to be safe in candle and body care applications. 

Are Fragrance Oils Safe On Their Own?

Just like any concentrated product, care must be used in handling fragrance oils prior to dilution in product. Every fragrance oil product page contains the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) in the "Regulatory Documents" tab. Download and review prior to using the fragrance oil.

  • Fragrance oils are a manufacturing product used in making candles, soap and other products. They must be diluted before use.
  • Refer to the IFRA tab for maximum skin safety usage rates, and review the IFRA document carefully. 
  • Maximum usage rates refer to skin safety percentages only and are not recommendations for usage rates in products or formulas. Refer to your formula for the recommended usage rate, and do not use the fragrance oil if the IFRA rate is not rated highly enough for use in your product. 
  • Download and review the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) document provided in the IFRA & SDS tab. Follow all safety guidelines recommended. Do not allow contact with skin or ingest. Follow all IFRA guidelines for dilution in product.  Care should be used in handling at all times.

For our Canadian Friends: we highly recommend Shippsy.com as a package forwarder. UPS charges very high brokerage fees and duty on oils even if they are manufactured in the United States. Shippsy will not charge these fees if a commercial invoice showing the oil origin is provided. We are happy to provide this upon request. You are responsible to ensure all import regulations are followed, including documentation and product approval. Scent Memory is responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

International Shipping: At this time Scent Memory only ships within the United States and its territories. We are responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

Shipping Policy: Scent Memory ships orders through the United States Postal Service and UPS. All orders are assigned tracking numbers which are transmitted to the customer within 24 hours of shipping.

Orders that are marked as delivered by the shipping carrier are considered complete. Scent Memory is not responsible for stolen or missing packages after the carrier conveys delivered status. Individuals should work with their local post office or UPS location to identify exact location of delivery.

Returned Packages: In the event of a returned package due to undeliverable location, customer refusal or incorrect address, Scent Memory will send the customer and invoice for redelivery. If this is not paid, a refund on the purchase will be made minus the original delivery fee.

Damaged Packages: In the event of a damaged package please contact info@scentmemoryfragrance.com with pictures of the packaging and the product, with a description of and the extent of the damage. This is required for Scent Memory to file a shipping damage claim.

Just Lovely! ( A non-acrid powder scent)

I am relatively new to the world of fragrance oils, and some commenters compare " Your Skin But Better" to a Glossier fragrance. I can't comment on the likeness but I will say that to me, "Your Skin But Better" is a light skin-musk, powdery type of scent but without the more acrid notes of powder scented products.

This fragrance oil is just everything. It’s been a staple in my products for awhile now.

I am crazy about this scent. I am a musk lover and it just winds me up. I have mostly used it in CP soap and lotions, and also in a deodorant. As others have said, it's less powdery than other musks, really leaning into the iris. I will add that it is a great blender. I've used it in several confetti soaps and also mixed with other FOs (specifically with Sticky Toffee Pudding), and this scent adds depth and harmony.

A classic. A subtle legend. This one is like that person whose skin always looks dewy and effortless, and you’re like, “What’s your secret?” and they say, “Water.” It’s soft and wholly inoffensive. Ideal for lotion, soap, or body spray. I used this in body oil and might put it in a lotion as well.

BEAUTIFUL dupe of the Glossier, with those nice in-your-nose pink pepper notes, it even nails the hint of pencil shavings. I put in in pale pink soap and it didn't turn brown like soap with vanillin fragrances, but after a while the fragrance oil started to turn orangey and discolored the soap. Could totally have been an issue on my end though! I would probably work with it before I used it in large batches of soap but it would make an incredible perfume/room spray/wax fragrance

After reading the reviews for this scent I was expecting a light powdery note but to me this has a strong Iris scent. My daughter wears the original and at OOTB sniff I immediately thought of her- so its pretty close. It has a strong scent retention in CP soap, no acceleration and discolors to off white. I am trying design a soap around this scent since its such great performance in soap.

I may be in the minority when it comes to this fragrance. I used it in a moisturizer and lotion. It was pleasant, but it didn't jump out to me with any type of "wow." It's a calm, unassuming scent that won't interfere with anything else you're wearing, which is lovely if that is your intention towards it. There's nothing wrong with the scent, but it's just missing something for me personally.

First time smelling this- I had no idea what to think about it and even till this day I can't describe how it smells. I sorta like it! The more I smelled it the more I thought about it lol It's clean and light. I don't get much of the "after-shower skin" smell from this. But it is a very subtle scent

I use this fragrance in my perfume line and it's a nice, subtle, you-enhancing scent. I am slightly allergic to it, but that's not the fragrance's fault so I won't reduce stars for that. Just something to be aware of if you are using it for skin products and have a customer who has sensitive skin.

This is THE scent I most purchase from SM. It's fresh, clean, and very addictive. I have the original and it is similar, however, I find SM's version much more vibrant.

Its hard to describe the scent, but it almost takes on its on scent depending on your body chemistry. Its amazing in perfume!!!
