About Fragrance Oil
  • The fragrance oils sold by Scent Memory are a manufacturing product. They are not skin safe on their own and must be diluted prior to use. 
  • Our oils are formulated to generally work in candle and body care applications, but must be tested for compatibility in your product. 
  • Due to the concentration of the oils safety precautions must be taken when handling them. 

What are fragrance oils?

Fragrance oils are synthetic or blended aromatic compounds designed to mimic natural scents or create entirely new ones. Unlike essential oils, which are extracted from plants, fragrance oils are crafted by blending aromatic chemicals and natural extracts. This careful formulation allows for a wide range of scents that may not be possible to achieve with essential oils alone and also allows for greater safety and performance in their applications. 

How Can Fragrance Oils Be Used?

Though they smell beautiful on their own, fragrance oils are a manufacturing product and must be diluted prior to use. They can be formulated for one specific purpose (such as for soap or in a candle) or for a wider range of applications - however, no one fragrance oil will work in ALL applications, so testing your products is a must. The fragrance oils that Scent Memory Fragrance offer are generally formulated to be safe in candle and body care applications. 

Are Fragrance Oils Safe On Their Own?

Just like any concentrated product, care must be used in handling fragrance oils prior to dilution in product. Every fragrance oil product page contains the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) in the "Regulatory Documents" tab. Download and review prior to using the fragrance oil.

  • Fragrance oils are a manufacturing product used in making candles, soap and other products. They must be diluted before use.
  • Refer to the IFRA tab for maximum skin safety usage rates, and review the IFRA document carefully. 
  • Maximum usage rates refer to skin safety percentages only and are not recommendations for usage rates in products or formulas. Refer to your formula for the recommended usage rate, and do not use the fragrance oil if the IFRA rate is not rated highly enough for use in your product. 
  • Download and review the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) document provided in the IFRA & SDS tab. Follow all safety guidelines recommended. Do not allow contact with skin or ingest. Follow all IFRA guidelines for dilution in product.  Care should be used in handling at all times.

For our Canadian Friends: we highly recommend Shippsy.com as a package forwarder. UPS charges very high brokerage fees and duty on oils even if they are manufactured in the United States. Shippsy will not charge these fees if a commercial invoice showing the oil origin is provided. We are happy to provide this upon request. You are responsible to ensure all import regulations are followed, including documentation and product approval. Scent Memory is responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

International Shipping: At this time Scent Memory only ships within the United States and its territories. We are responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

Shipping Policy: Scent Memory ships orders through the United States Postal Service and UPS. All orders are assigned tracking numbers which are transmitted to the customer within 24 hours of shipping.

Orders that are marked as delivered by the shipping carrier are considered complete. Scent Memory is not responsible for stolen or missing packages after the carrier conveys delivered status. Individuals should work with their local post office or UPS location to identify exact location of delivery.

Returned Packages: In the event of a returned package due to undeliverable location, customer refusal or incorrect address, Scent Memory will send the customer and invoice for redelivery. If this is not paid, a refund on the purchase will be made minus the original delivery fee.

Damaged Packages: In the event of a damaged package please contact info@scentmemoryfragrance.com with pictures of the packaging and the product, with a description of and the extent of the damage. This is required for Scent Memory to file a shipping damage claim.

Out of the rose fragrances, I prefer Gossamer Rose to this one, although they are very different so it’s almost not fair to compare. This one just smells a little dusty to me as compared to the pink freshness of Gossamer Rose, however, that’s just my personal preference.

This is a very straightforward rose to me. It definitely smells upscale, though, and can be taken in any direction (spicy, creamy, earthy, smoky, or fruity). I mixed mine with some Strawberry Shortcake oil I had, Cafe Americano (from SM) and I plan on mixing it with a Madeleine accord and some Creme de la Creme (from SM). This will give it a sweeter, cafe/bakery quality, although I’m balancing it enough to where it’s blended and nothing is too prominent as to not disrupt the original scent too much. I will probably do another blend with just smoke added. Just experiment until you get what you want!

I don’t care for rose scents at all. But this one makes a very nice perfume at 25% so it deserves 5 stars. This isn’t a nasty powdery, floral rose. This is a sultry, captivating, mysterious, dark rose. The name choice for this oil is on point!

I don't usually go for rose scents, but...Valentine's Day and I was looking for romance. Makes me so happy that I have this dark, woodsy, spicy rose scent. It's not a typical rose--not powdery, musty, or overly sweet. It's not burdened with other floral notes trying to create an illusion of a rose...gothic rose is simply mysterious, elegant, and super classy. Don't be confused by the coffee or incense notes! An image of a huge bouquet of long stemmed blood red roses immediately came to mind when I was testing this scent in coconut wax candles.

Dark, smoky, mysterious rose. I think it could go even darker and smokier, so I like to blend it with dark smoky smells to really maximize that. Its VERY rosy, which isn't for me, but its at least a high quality rose.

My favorite rose--the sweetness is balanced here with the darker notes of incense and black pepper. A complex, darker blend that makes you want to come back to it again and again. Does great in soy wax. Have not tested hot throw yet, but the CT is amazing!

Deep rose bliss

I’m a rose fan in general so this was not a hard sell for me. This is not a sweet and gentle rose. Or grandmas rose. This is dark and sexy and I love it!
The rose itself is the forward note and I like that. All the supporting notes of patchouli, sandalwood and incense sort of rise up behind it like mysterious shadows. Yes please.
Smelled great as an oil based scent on my skin and even better in the 464 candle I made to test. Good ct and ht with no fussing for the right wick. Next up is soap and I really hope it doesn’t discolor but even so I think it will be worth it.
