About Fragrance Oil
  • The fragrance oils sold by Scent Memory are a manufacturing product. They are not skin safe on their own and must be diluted prior to use. 
  • Our oils are formulated to generally work in candle and body care applications, but must be tested for compatibility in your product. 
  • Due to the concentration of the oils safety precautions must be taken when handling them. 

What are fragrance oils?

Fragrance oils are synthetic or blended aromatic compounds designed to mimic natural scents or create entirely new ones. Unlike essential oils, which are extracted from plants, fragrance oils are crafted by blending aromatic chemicals and natural extracts. This careful formulation allows for a wide range of scents that may not be possible to achieve with essential oils alone and also allows for greater safety and performance in their applications. 

How Can Fragrance Oils Be Used?

Though they smell beautiful on their own, fragrance oils are a manufacturing product and must be diluted prior to use. They can be formulated for one specific purpose (such as for soap or in a candle) or for a wider range of applications - however, no one fragrance oil will work in ALL applications, so testing your products is a must. The fragrance oils that Scent Memory Fragrance offer are generally formulated to be safe in candle and body care applications. 

Are Fragrance Oils Safe On Their Own?

Just like any concentrated product, care must be used in handling fragrance oils prior to dilution in product. Every fragrance oil product page contains the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) in the "Regulatory Documents" tab. Download and review prior to using the fragrance oil.

  • Fragrance oils are a manufacturing product used in making candles, soap and other products. They must be diluted before use.
  • Refer to the IFRA tab for maximum skin safety usage rates, and review the IFRA document carefully. 
  • Maximum usage rates refer to skin safety percentages only and are not recommendations for usage rates in products or formulas. Refer to your formula for the recommended usage rate, and do not use the fragrance oil if the IFRA rate is not rated highly enough for use in your product. 
  • Download and review the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) document provided in the IFRA & SDS tab. Follow all safety guidelines recommended. Do not allow contact with skin or ingest. Follow all IFRA guidelines for dilution in product.  Care should be used in handling at all times.

For our Canadian Friends: we highly recommend Shippsy.com as a package forwarder. UPS charges very high brokerage fees and duty on oils even if they are manufactured in the United States. Shippsy will not charge these fees if a commercial invoice showing the oil origin is provided. We are happy to provide this upon request. You are responsible to ensure all import regulations are followed, including documentation and product approval. Scent Memory is responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

International Shipping: At this time Scent Memory only ships within the United States and its territories. We are responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

Shipping Policy: Scent Memory ships orders through the United States Postal Service and UPS. All orders are assigned tracking numbers which are transmitted to the customer within 24 hours of shipping.

Orders that are marked as delivered by the shipping carrier are considered complete. Scent Memory is not responsible for stolen or missing packages after the carrier conveys delivered status. Individuals should work with their local post office or UPS location to identify exact location of delivery.

Returned Packages: In the event of a returned package due to undeliverable location, customer refusal or incorrect address, Scent Memory will send the customer and invoice for redelivery. If this is not paid, a refund on the purchase will be made minus the original delivery fee.

Damaged Packages: In the event of a damaged package please contact info@scentmemoryfragrance.com with pictures of the packaging and the product, with a description of and the extent of the damage. This is required for Scent Memory to file a shipping damage claim.

A staple in my collection!

I'm relatively new to perfumery and this was my first purchase from scent memory fragrances, but it will not be my last! This is the perfect "vanilla extract" type scent, it's decadent and almost "dry" in comparison to more gourmand. If you're looking for a sign to purchase a new fragrance oil, this is it!

OOB oh this is wonderful -- I love vanilla. It does smell just like vanilla extract but there's more to it - sophisticated. It's the Little Black Dress of straight vanilla fragrances, almost naughty!!!!

Not sure what product I'll put it in but when I figure it out I'm sure it will be amazing.

Fantastic. You can really smell the difference when comparing this to a typical vanilla fragrance. Instead of excessive sweetness, you get the complexity of actual vanilla. To me, it smells like vanilla extract.

Didn’t really smell how I was anticipating it to smell based on the notes. At first sniff, I wasn’t too keen on it, however, after revisiting it, it has grown on me and I think I need to test it in a candle versus out of the bottle to get a true sense of the fragrance.

I do not live this on its own as it’s very light in melts and candles. But as a blender? Yes! It’s not your typical sweet vanilla but a spicy complex vanilla. Adds depth to anything you blend it with. It blends well with Cognac & Spiced Pralines!

OOB review: this vanilla is gorgeous. It’s not cloying or fake smelling. Can’t wait to try it in a lotion. I’ve been looking for something to scent my lotions with just a hint of sweetness and depth and I think this is it. Something that will sit nicely on the skin without anything extra. This seems to be the lightest vanilla fragrance that I’ve ever ordered. Full disclosure: this is my right out of the bottle impression. I have not worked with this yet. Not what I was expecting from a vanilla. I really pick up on the musk. It’s not overpowering by any means but my nose can always detect musk. I normally love gourmand vanillas and this is definitely not that. So I would say if you’re not normally a fan of vanilla give this one a try because it’s not like the others.

It smells just like vanilla extract. Not sweet. Not cloying. Good on its own, but I imagine it would be a great blender too. Only reducing by one star because it seems to take a little longer to cure in soy wax than the typical 2 weeks.

This is not your average vanilla. It has a depth to it that's warm and inviting. This is the type that knows what she wants and gets it. I've used it in body creams and candles, and both are absolutely divine. I'm probably going to attempt to add just a hint of this fragrance to others that I want to have a bit of a smoother edge.

Never in a million years did I think I would love a vanilla scent. Kristen and her fragrance fairies has worked some magic here. This is going into my fall line as is. No blending.
