About Fragrance Oil
  • The fragrance oils sold by Scent Memory are a manufacturing product. They are not skin safe on their own and must be diluted prior to use.
  • Our oils are formulated to generally work in candle and body care applications, but must be tested for compatibility in your product.
  • Due to the concentration of the oils safety precautions must be taken when handling them.

What are fragrance oils?

Fragrance oils are synthetic or blended aromatic compounds designed to mimic natural scents or create entirely new ones. Unlike essential oils, which are extracted from plants, fragrance oils are crafted by blending aromatic chemicals and natural extracts. This careful formulation allows for a wide range of scents that may not be possible to achieve with essential oils alone and also allows for greater safety and performance in their applications.

How Can Fragrance Oils Be Used?

Though they smell beautiful on their own, fragrance oils are a manufacturing product and must be diluted prior to use. They can be formulated for one specific purpose (such as for soap or in a candle) or for a wider range of applications - however, no one fragrance oil will work in ALL applications, so testing your products is a must. The fragrance oils that Scent Memory Fragrance offer are generally formulated to be safe in candle and body care applications.

Are Fragrance Oils Safe On Their Own?

Just like any concentrated product, care must be used in handling fragrance oils prior to dilution in product. Every fragrance oil product page contains the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) in the "Regulatory Documents" tab. Download and review prior to using the fragrance oil.

Safety Information
  • Fragrance oils are a manufacturing product used in making candles, soap and other products. They must be diluted before use.
  • Refer to the IFRA tab for maximum skin safety usage rates, and review the IFRA document carefully.
  • Maximum usage rates refer to skin safety percentages only and are not recommendations for usage rates in products or formulas. Refer to your formula for the recommended usage rate, and do not use the fragrance oil if the IFRA rate is not rated highly enough for use in your product.
  • Download and review the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) document provided in the IFRA & SDS tab. Follow all safety guidelines recommended. Do not allow contact with skin or ingest. Follow all IFRA guidelines for dilution in product.  Care should be used in handling at all times.

MOST AUTHENTIC AUTUMN FRAGRANCE EVER MADE! My customers are loving this one, I am having a hard time keeping it in stock (not complaining at all, thanks scent memory :P) It's exactly as it's described in the description, I put it in soy wax and it bloomed!!

This is one of my all-time favorite FOs

This is one of my all-time favorite FOs. It is such a great interpretation of autumn. In candles, the CT and HT are wonderful. The HT is much warmer and a hint of spice, similar to the dry down on a blotter strip of this oil. The CT and initial first whiff gives more of the damp earth smell which, while I personally like it, is a bit niche. The HT though has a much broader appeal. The CT might put off some buyers. I think this fall I might burn one in-store so people realize how good it is. The bold customers that buy it fall in love and stock up

I LOVE this so much! It is a true autumn scent. Not the apple/cinnamon/pumpkin/clove everyone puts out, but a real true autumn air smell. I absoutely love it and will buy a big 'ol bottle of it.

I ordered a small bottle last year and didn’t love it at first, since petrichor isn’t usually my thing. But this autumn, I needed something earthy and woody for my candle line—so I gave it another shot, and wow, what a surprise! I made a test candle and now I can’t get enough. A big bottle is definitely on my next order list.

OOB the leaves and decay definitely hit me first. I primarily make soap and just can’t see myself using it in CP but I could see this really blooming nicely in wax.

I agree with most other reviews. You really cannot judge this out of the bottle. Even the notes to me, while accurate, i couldn't imagine how pleasant & appealing this fragrance is. It has a great HT and really sets a cozy fall atmosphere. Different from some more generic or over played fall scents. If you're on the fence, trust me & try it. And be sure to try it in wax!

In da boneyard,
Oob it's all wet earth, dank & musty. I put it in wax, gave it a couple weeks before testing/melting. A hint of smokiness comes through in a nice subtle way along a sharp crisp fall air. It's exactly as described in the scent notes, perfect fall.

This oil is too good, like too good. I am obsessed. PLEASE DONT GET RID OF IT! It's the most authentic dirt outdoor scent i've ever smelled!

I didn’t like this OOTB. The petrichor notes were overwhelming at first. I went and sniffed my blotter the next day and was wowed. The scent had morphed into a more masculine, woodsy smell that was legit autumn-esque. Cannot wait to make a forest themed candle with this one.

I make soap with this and autumn woods. Both sell out immediately. It smells like fall when the season is just starting to turn and the cool air flows through the woods beckoning the turning season

I’m not an earthy scent lover but I am always asked for more earthy scents. This is by far the best earthy tones. So this is my go to for my earthy lovers!

Hyper-realistic atmospheric scent (dried leaves, earth). For people who like atmospherics, this is a great way to channel the actual smell of fall air. I haven’t tried it in perfume yet (it may not work out) but for candles or room sprays this would be great for certain people. I could see this being used in a “Halloween goth”’blend as well. I had a perfume from an indie brand before that was supposed to remind you of a damp, cold, dark place—and this resembles the smell (clearly some of the same aroma-chemicals).

Earthy and fresh, like taking a walk through the neighborhood on a crisp fall day maybe after it's just rained.

Hyper realistic like the others say below. Works quite well in soy wax. Scent retains oob qualities from scent strip, mellows a touch. Nicely diffusive scent probably 6 or 7/10 on HT. Bit straightforward for me though since I found myself kinda uninterested in it fairly quickly. I think it'd make a really interesting blender. Charcoal embers would probably blend with it really nicely especially for the colder months.

This is...autumn air. Agree with reviewer below, "hyperrealistic" is exactly the term I would use. I don't think I'd use this alone, but makes a gorgeous base for something fall related. I like to mix it with a little bit of Trim the Tree and some red apple fragrance I have to make a beautiful autumn scented "walk through the woods" without all of the autumn spice.

B

A perfect hyperrealistic autumn scent, complete with decaying leaves. Its not perfumey or "pretty" at all. Definitely not for everyone, but great when you're looking for a really dramatic atmospheric statement. An absolutely perfect autumn fragrance.

Kristen is a witch and she bottled a New England fall. Idk what else to tell you, it is 100% fall in a bottle. No spices, no pumpkin, no apple orchard anything, just true to life crunchy leaves, damp forest floor complete with decaying logs, and a cool, crisp wind. This is the most gorgeous atmospheric.

F
F.R.

Right off the bat, this fragrance is not for me at all. It smells exactly like a pile of damp leaves. I still give it a 5 star rating because the fragrance description is spot on and it is an interesting, atmospheric scent that absolutely will be a great fit for some brands.

This fragrance is what I think autumn air smells like. I smell all the notes in the description. So much depth. Can't wait to craft with it. Highly recommend!
