About Fragrance Oil
  • The fragrance oils sold by Scent Memory are a manufacturing product. They are not skin safe on their own and must be diluted prior to use. 
  • Our oils are formulated to generally work in candle and body care applications, but must be tested for compatibility in your product. 
  • Due to the concentration of the oils safety precautions must be taken when handling them. 

What are fragrance oils?

Fragrance oils are synthetic or blended aromatic compounds designed to mimic natural scents or create entirely new ones. Unlike essential oils, which are extracted from plants, fragrance oils are crafted by blending aromatic chemicals and natural extracts. This careful formulation allows for a wide range of scents that may not be possible to achieve with essential oils alone and also allows for greater safety and performance in their applications. 

How Can Fragrance Oils Be Used?

Though they smell beautiful on their own, fragrance oils are a manufacturing product and must be diluted prior to use. They can be formulated for one specific purpose (such as for soap or in a candle) or for a wider range of applications - however, no one fragrance oil will work in ALL applications, so testing your products is a must. The fragrance oils that Scent Memory Fragrance offer are generally formulated to be safe in candle and body care applications. 

Are Fragrance Oils Safe On Their Own?

Just like any concentrated product, care must be used in handling fragrance oils prior to dilution in product. Every fragrance oil product page contains the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) in the "Regulatory Documents" tab. Download and review prior to using the fragrance oil.

  • Fragrance oils are a manufacturing product used in making candles, soap and other products. They must be diluted before use.
  • Refer to the IFRA tab for maximum skin safety usage rates, and review the IFRA document carefully. 
  • Maximum usage rates refer to skin safety percentages only and are not recommendations for usage rates in products or formulas. Refer to your formula for the recommended usage rate, and do not use the fragrance oil if the IFRA rate is not rated highly enough for use in your product. 
  • Download and review the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) document provided in the IFRA & SDS tab. Follow all safety guidelines recommended. Do not allow contact with skin or ingest. Follow all IFRA guidelines for dilution in product.  Care should be used in handling at all times.

For our Canadian Friends: we highly recommend Shippsy.com as a package forwarder. UPS charges very high brokerage fees and duty on oils even if they are manufactured in the United States. Shippsy will not charge these fees if a commercial invoice showing the oil origin is provided. We are happy to provide this upon request. You are responsible to ensure all import regulations are followed, including documentation and product approval. Scent Memory is responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

International Shipping: At this time Scent Memory only ships within the United States and its territories. We are responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

Shipping Policy: Scent Memory ships orders through the United States Postal Service and UPS. All orders are assigned tracking numbers which are transmitted to the customer within 24 hours of shipping.

Orders that are marked as delivered by the shipping carrier are considered complete. Scent Memory is not responsible for stolen or missing packages after the carrier conveys delivered status. Pure Sunshine, just get it! You won't regret it. I immediately ordered a larger bottle after purchasing the 2 oz. I'm terrible at describing. It is a welcoming sunny, bright, fresh scent perfect for an inviting home. I could see this being used year round as well. spring/winter to cheer you up on a gloomy day. Summer, well it smells like pure summer so, yes. Even fall this can be appealing as it kinda wraps you up in a freshly washed soft blankie!

I used this fragrance to make a room spray because I was seeking something fresh and clean, and this definitely did the trick. This is one of those fragrances that could you use for anything in your home, and it would be appropriate. I was more caught off guard by how strong it is. I sprayed it in my bathroom to test it, shut the door, and could still pleasantly smell it in my hallway.

On its own this one is not really my style. It is quality for sure hence the 5 stars but it's not my jam. However, based on another review I tried blending it with Soapy Bubbles and I do really enjoy that combination. I will say that I tried that blend in soap and I didn't think there was any misbehaving but once I poured it into my molds and was ready to do the tops it had really started to firm up. I wanted a simple look for these clean scents so i didn't plan on doing anything fancy. So it worked fine for me but know that you may need to work quickly

I hadn't planned to buy this fragrance at first but I am so so so glad that I did! I also bought the Bubble Bath and White Tea Hotel types and this one is the clear winner for a fresh, clean scent!

For a while, I have been looking for that perfect clean scent as I am of the opinion that the two cornerstones of a feminine fragrance wardrobe are a cozy, warm vanilla-type scent (check out an oil version of the discontinued Vanilla Lace by Victoria's Secret for that- you won't regret it! Compliments galore on that one from men and women) and the second is a clean fresh fragrance. All other perfumes are just fun extras on top of those two. And after some searching, I have finally found the perfect clean, fresh fragrance!

Linen & Sunshine is everything I have wanted in a clean fragrance. I've tried Chanel No 5 L'Eau, thinking that the softer aldehydes would lend to a soapy, fresh fragrance but alas, it was not what I wanted. I also tried MFK Aqua Universalis but that was more of a citrus bomb than the perfect clean scent I wanted. Fragrances heavy on the citrus don't read "clean" to me but are somehow always at the top of the lists recommending clean scents. Nice dry down on the Aqua Universalis though.

But this! Linen and Sunshine! A masterpiece! It smells like you have just finished showering with the most expensive rich people's soap in the pool house at their chateau in the south of France during summer which they keep well stocked with the most decadent of toiletries for their guests. It's perfectly unisex because it smells like nothing other than clean. If you wear this as a perfume/cologne as I do, the fragrance reads more like "you smell good, you must have showered recently and be wearing fresh laundry" rather than "your perfume/cologne is nice."

I am playing around with layering/combining this and the Bubble Bath type. I think the sweet creaminess of Bubble Bath helps to sort of "anchor" Linen & Sunshine, making it more wearable as a perfume.

bougie laundry from a house in the hills!

This made an amazing room/linen mist as well as an air freshener sachet! It's smells like I'm rich and have someone do my laundry with the most expensive, luxury soap out there and then they used 24k gold clothes pins to line dry the clothes in the most perfect part of the spring morning when the sun is shining just right and there is a subtle breeze flowing in the background. Best I've ever used for this scent category!
