About Fragrance Oil
  • The fragrance oils sold by Scent Memory are a manufacturing product. They are not skin safe on their own and must be diluted prior to use. 
  • Our oils are formulated to generally work in candle and body care applications, but must be tested for compatibility in your product. 
  • Due to the concentration of the oils safety precautions must be taken when handling them. 

What are fragrance oils?

Fragrance oils are synthetic or blended aromatic compounds designed to mimic natural scents or create entirely new ones. Unlike essential oils, which are extracted from plants, fragrance oils are crafted by blending aromatic chemicals and natural extracts. This careful formulation allows for a wide range of scents that may not be possible to achieve with essential oils alone and also allows for greater safety and performance in their applications. 

How Can Fragrance Oils Be Used?

Though they smell beautiful on their own, fragrance oils are a manufacturing product and must be diluted prior to use. They can be formulated for one specific purpose (such as for soap or in a candle) or for a wider range of applications - however, no one fragrance oil will work in ALL applications, so testing your products is a must. The fragrance oils that Scent Memory Fragrance offer are generally formulated to be safe in candle and body care applications. 

Are Fragrance Oils Safe On Their Own?

Just like any concentrated product, care must be used in handling fragrance oils prior to dilution in product. Every fragrance oil product page contains the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) in the "Regulatory Documents" tab. Download and review prior to using the fragrance oil. 
Safety Information
  • Fragrance oils are a manufacturing product used in making candles, soap and other products. They must be diluted before use.
  • Refer to the IFRA tab for maximum skin safety usage rates, and review the IFRA document carefully. 
  • Maximum usage rates refer to skin safety percentages only and are not recommendations for usage rates in products or formulas. Refer to your formula for the recommended usage rate, and do not use the fragrance oil if the IFRA rate is not rated highly enough for use in your product. 
  • Download and review the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) document provided in the IFRA & SDS tab. Follow all safety guidelines recommended. Do not allow contact with skin or ingest. Follow all IFRA guidelines for dilution in product.  Care should be used in handling at all times.

For our Canadian Friends: we highly recommend Shippsy.com as a package forwarder. UPS charges very high brokerage fees and duty on oils even if they are manufactured in the United States. Shippsy will not charge these fees if a commercial invoice showing the oil origin is provided. We are happy to provide this upon request. You are responsible to ensure all import regulations are followed, including documentation and product approval. Scent Memory is responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

International Shipping: At this time Scent Memory only ships within the United States and its territories. We are responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

Shipping Policy: Scent Memory ships orders through the United States Postal Service and UPS. All orders are assigned tracking numbers which are transmitted to the customer within 24 hours of shipping.

Orders that are marked as delivered by the shipping carrier are considered complete. Scent Memory is not responsible for stolen or missing packages after the carrier conveys delivered status. Individuals should work with their local post office or UPS location to identify exact location of delivery.

Returned Packages: In the event of a returned package due to undeliverable location, customer refusal or incorrect address, Scent Memory will send the customer and invoice for redelivery. If this is not paid, a refund on the purchase will be made minus the original delivery fee.

Damaged Packages: In the event of a damaged package please contact info@scentmemoryfragrance.com with pictures of the packaging and the product, with a description of and the extent of the damage. This is required for Scent Memory to file a shipping damage claim.

Obsessed! I make body washes and lotions and potions. I love this fragrance. I can’t pinpoint the exact memory but last night while taking a bath in my steamy bathroom it came to me. Night Swim. It smells like one of the best memories. My friends would sneaking into fancy hotel pools at night to swim. We were the only ones around and had to be very quiet. It’s the misty night air combined with a hint of clean chlorine pool water. 🤩 What a cool unique fragrance. Thank you for this!!!

I grew up in The Natural State and this lovely scent makes me think of home--a true scent memory. Mossy forest path reminds me of racing through the woods after a rain storm. While this scent is for sure earthy, its the watery note that hits me the most and that's a really hard scent to describe. Have you ever sat on the shady side of a stream on a hot summer day? That is this scent: green, earthy, damp, natural. To me, this is what it smells like when you are surrounded by nature after a rainstorm.

What can I say...it smells like trees and earth. I love it. I mix it with a bit of Winter Chalet to make an "outdoors in the woods with a campfire" scent.

Smells a bit soapy to me, like frothy soap bubbles. Is that a clean moss fragrance, or something else? I always have to blend with this, I cannot stand it alone. It blends well with florals and other green smells, and that helps tone down the soapy scent that I pick up on when its alone.

Another pleasant surprise! I do love atmospheric scents but was worried that this one might be too hyper-realistic. For example, The Coming Storm is VERY realistic and not something I would like on its own. Certain people would but I'm not one of them. I would prefer to mix it to tone it down or add some realism to something else. This one while still realistic is still something I could use on its own. Very nice!

Very realistic!

This is a very realistic moss scent and would be great for green fragrance blends. If you want something “perfume” like this isn’t it since this is more atmospheric and realistic. It didn’t have lasting power in a spray but I’m going to let it sit more. It will work nicely in blends I believe.

Be sure to try this one in something. Out of bottle, my SO smelled musk and I smelled liquid bubbles haha! But in wax, you can smell the wood, the moss, and the clean air. This is good on its own but I think it would be FABULOUS as a mixer. Its exactly as described and leaves a lot of room for complex blends for different projects.
