About Fragrance Oil
  • The fragrance oils sold by Scent Memory are a manufacturing product. They are not skin safe on their own and must be diluted prior to use. 
  • Our oils are formulated to generally work in candle and body care applications, but must be tested for compatibility in your product. 
  • Due to the concentration of the oils safety precautions must be taken when handling them. 

What are fragrance oils?

Fragrance oils are synthetic or blended aromatic compounds designed to mimic natural scents or create entirely new ones. Unlike essential oils, which are extracted from plants, fragrance oils are crafted by blending aromatic chemicals and natural extracts. This careful formulation allows for a wide range of scents that may not be possible to achieve with essential oils alone and also allows for greater safety and performance in their applications. 

How Can Fragrance Oils Be Used?

Though they smell beautiful on their own, fragrance oils are a manufacturing product and must be diluted prior to use. They can be formulated for one specific purpose (such as for soap or in a candle) or for a wider range of applications - however, no one fragrance oil will work in ALL applications, so testing your products is a must. The fragrance oils that Scent Memory Fragrance offer are generally formulated to be safe in candle and body care applications. 

Are Fragrance Oils Safe On Their Own?

Just like any concentrated product, care must be used in handling fragrance oils prior to dilution in product. Every fragrance oil product page contains the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) in the "Regulatory Documents" tab. Download and review prior to using the fragrance oil.

  • Fragrance oils are a manufacturing product used in making candles, soap and other products. They must be diluted before use.
  • Refer to the IFRA tab for maximum skin safety usage rates, and review the IFRA document carefully. 
  • Maximum usage rates refer to skin safety percentages only and are not recommendations for usage rates in products or formulas. Refer to your formula for the recommended usage rate, and do not use the fragrance oil if the IFRA rate is not rated highly enough for use in your product. 
  • Download and review the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) document provided in the IFRA & SDS tab. Follow all safety guidelines recommended. Do not allow contact with skin or ingest. Follow all IFRA guidelines for dilution in product.  Care should be used in handling at all times.

For our Canadian Friends: we highly recommend Shippsy.com as a package forwarder. UPS charges very high brokerage fees and duty on oils even if they are manufactured in the United States. Shippsy will not charge these fees if a commercial invoice showing the oil origin is provided. We are happy to provide this upon request. You are responsible to ensure all import regulations are followed, including documentation and product approval. Scent Memory is responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

International Shipping: At this time Scent Memory only ships within the United States and its territories. We are responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

Shipping Policy: Scent Memory ships orders through the United States Postal Service and UPS. All orders are assigned tracking numbers which are transmitted to the customer within 24 hours of shipping.

Orders that are marked as delivered by the shipping carrier are considered complete. Scent Memory is not responsible for stolen or missing packages after the carrier conveys delivered status. Individuals should work with their local post office or UPS location to identify exact location of delivery.

Returned Packages: In the event of a returned package due to undeliverable location, customer refusal or incorrect address, Scent Memory will send the customer and invoice for redelivery. If this is not paid, a refund on the purchase will be made minus the original delivery fee.

Damaged Packages: In the event of a damaged package please contact info@scentmemoryfragrance.com with pictures of the packaging and the product, with a description of and the extent of the damage. This is required for Scent Memory to file a shipping damage claim.

A Spectacular Luxury Rose

When I first smelled the original Rose 31 by Le Labo I was turned off by the strong cumin note. I never looked at it again. Fast forward to 2026 and a sample of "Rose de Grasse" was included in my previous order. I can't begin to tell you how I fell in love with the sample. I had to place an order for a bigger . Scent Memory actually made the fragrance 10 times better. I can't stop smelling it.

I bought as a blender and on opening I got a bit splashed onto my skin - totally divine. It’s fresh, and elegant without a powdery or old-fashioned vibe. It dries down with a soft wood and musk base that gives it quiet sophistication and beautiful balance. I can’t wait to get it into the blend I’d had in mind, but on its own its exquisite.

This one is not for me. It's nice but my least favorite of the SM rose options. To me it smells like hotel soap. A lot of my customers are drawn towards clean sents and this is a clean rose-ish scent. The CT/HT in my coconut wax so-so. If I loved the fragrance I would tinker with it some more to make it work but it's not for me.

Phew. The true magic of this scent is the way all the layers play together. When I first got this scent I picked it up and put it down several times in a row, just appreciating all the subtlety. The scent is soft, but strong. Sweet like a nectar with an earthiness and spice to counter. I put this one in a roller ball perfume and have received many compliments on this one!

This one was not my favorite out of the SM ROSE collection but it would make a lovely blender. It is s a tad bit perfumy for my taste but truly is a vivacious ROSE scent.

I love this one. I actually hesitated to try it because the description said musk and woods and hotel and none of those are usually my thing. But wow! I was so wrong. This is exactly my thing. I very much smell the rose first with a soft back up of spice and a bare hint of woods. I have never stayed at the Fairmont but now I really want to if it smells like this. Ive been adding it to body lotion and conditioner so I can wear it. I’ll be adding it to a candle next. I’m curious how it would be in soap but it really doesn’t seem like it would be a good soap scent.

Really Fascinating scent. I feel like this would do well in cold months since it has such a peppery and spicey quality to it...I don't get much Rose but i believe i smelled this at the le labo store and the profile is very similiar.

Woodsy take on rose

I really enjoy this version of rose. The woodsy notes give it a strong backbone vs. something delicate or powdery. As a perfume, it seemed to attract an older fan base, although I wouldn’t call it a “grandma rose” scent. It appears that the IFRA dropped on this since I first purchased, so maybe no more perfume, eh? I’ll give it a try in candles instead.

Just like the perfume

I used this in wax melts. I definitely smell the rose! This is spot on! I would highly recommend this oil for anyone that doesn’t want a floral that causes a headache! It is a perfect blend of a beautiful wood/rose!!!

I smell exactly 0% rose. Not getting it at all. Very sandalwood, some other wood, I smell some pepper, maybe a little allspice. I like it, but I get no floral at all. Nada
