About Fragrance Oil
  • The fragrance oils sold by Scent Memory are a manufacturing product. They are not skin safe on their own and must be diluted prior to use. 
  • Our oils are formulated to generally work in candle and body care applications, but must be tested for compatibility in your product. 
  • Due to the concentration of the oils safety precautions must be taken when handling them. 

What are fragrance oils?

Fragrance oils are synthetic or blended aromatic compounds designed to mimic natural scents or create entirely new ones. Unlike essential oils, which are extracted from plants, fragrance oils are crafted by blending aromatic chemicals and natural extracts. This careful formulation allows for a wide range of scents that may not be possible to achieve with essential oils alone and also allows for greater safety and performance in their applications. 

How Can Fragrance Oils Be Used?

Though they smell beautiful on their own, fragrance oils are a manufacturing product and must be diluted prior to use. They can be formulated for one specific purpose (such as for soap or in a candle) or for a wider range of applications - however, no one fragrance oil will work in ALL applications, so testing your products is a must. The fragrance oils that Scent Memory Fragrance offer are generally formulated to be safe in candle and body care applications. 

Are Fragrance Oils Safe On Their Own?

Just like any concentrated product, care must be used in handling fragrance oils prior to dilution in product. Every fragrance oil product page contains the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) in the "Regulatory Documents" tab. Download and review prior to using the fragrance oil.

  • Fragrance oils are a manufacturing product used in making candles, soap and other products. They must be diluted before use.
  • Refer to the IFRA tab for maximum skin safety usage rates, and review the IFRA document carefully. 
  • Maximum usage rates refer to skin safety percentages only and are not recommendations for usage rates in products or formulas. Refer to your formula for the recommended usage rate, and do not use the fragrance oil if the IFRA rate is not rated highly enough for use in your product. 
  • Download and review the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) document provided in the IFRA & SDS tab. Follow all safety guidelines recommended. Do not allow contact with skin or ingest. Follow all IFRA guidelines for dilution in product.  Care should be used in handling at all times.

For our Canadian Friends: we highly recommend Shippsy.com as a package forwarder. UPS charges very high brokerage fees and duty on oils even if they are manufactured in the United States. Shippsy will not charge these fees if a commercial invoice showing the oil origin is provided. We are happy to provide this upon request. You are responsible to ensure all import regulations are followed, including documentation and product approval. Scent Memory is responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

International Shipping: At this time Scent Memory only ships within the United States and its territories. We are responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

Shipping Policy: Scent Memory ships orders through the United States Postal Service and UPS. All orders are assigned tracking numbers which are transmitted to the customer within 24 hours of shipping.

Orders that are marked as delivered by the shipping carrier are considered complete. Scent Memory is not responsible for stolen or missing packages after the carrier conveys delivered status. Individuals should work with their local post office or UPS location to identify exact location of delivery.

Returned Packages: In the event of a returned package due to undeliverable location, customer refusal or incorrect address, Scent Memory will send the customer and invoice for redelivery. If this is not paid, a refund on the purchase will be made minus the original delivery fee.

Damaged Packages: In the event of a damaged package please contact info@scentmemoryfragrance.com with pictures of the packaging and the product, with a description of and the extent of the damage. This is required for Scent Memory to file a shipping damage claim.

Intoxicatingly good. Purchased for the guaiac wood notes and was blown away with the profile overall. Warm, resinous woods with a crisp berry note, not sweet or fruity, but raw berry-like. Definitely a fall/winter fragrance, but I will enjoy it year round. A definite re-purchase when the sample size is exhausted. Amazing CT in 85/15 464/White Beeswax at 6%; testing HT now (had to put the candle out of sight to avoid lighting it) and good projection during first burn in medium sized room. May bump up to 8% in next test, but 6% is wonderful for a background/room-enhancing scent.

As fragrance oils go, this is a heavy hitter. I made freshies 8:1 and had to air out the car. Works excellent in wax melts, candles, CP soap (turns soap dark tan), bath bombs (didn't notice any discoloration), perfume, and body/room spray.

It is my signature Sasquatch fragrance. Sells well all year!

Absolutely fantastic scent. This performs so well in wax too. The scent profile is a nice outdoorsy, wood worker kinda sexy scent. The strength is pretty reliable too. I tried this at 10% in coconut parafin and really enjoying how it fills my apt. I think this is probably in my top 5 favorites now for SM.

This one is a KEEPER. Oh my.

A customer recently asked me to make a batch of woodsy candles for them and I decided to test this one out for the first time...

OH. MY. GAWD. WHERE has this been this whole time?!

It's basically the kinda scent I was an absolute sucker for when I was a candle customer, as opposed to a candle maker. The scent that became the gateway drug to making my own and now I'm snortin' my own product lol. It only took me until now to find it.

I may just keep it for myself. Make it a 'behind the counter' item that only insiders know the secret phrase to utter to bring it out from it's secret-squirrel dark hidey spot.

This scent is really unique and I can't quite figure out what I want to put it in. I tried shave cream and cologne but I think I might like it in home fragrance the best. I love the dark earthy notes to it.

This scent is to DIE for. I feel a lot of Pine scents just say Christmas to me, and that's it but certainly not this one! Great scent for winter but I can see me utilizing it year round. How can a forest be sexy? I don't know but this one is! There's this beautiful silky warmth that lies beneath the pine (which as a note by itself is one of the most sophisticated pines I've smelled, not an artificial smelling pine at all but very verdant and realistic) The guaic wood, birch, and clove make this an undeniably warm and attractive scent and the way it plays with the pine is gorgeous.

Sooo good. Made a perfume to compare with badlands. This is a woodsy one, a very pine forward scent with a guy's musk right behind it. The animalic is strong but clean & the whole scent is gorgeous and perfect for a winter fragrance. Badlands is a tad cleaner but I prefer this one for the musk. I smell a skosh of birch in there, too.

Ever since I was able to get my hands on the Tokyo city exclusive (Gaiac 10) from Le Labo, I was on a MISSION to find more guaiac fragrances. This one did not disappoint! This is a beautiful woodsy fragrance that was the perfect addition to my fall collection last year.

So nice, unisex

This is a very realistic, almost natural smelling fragrance to my nose. I loved it. I made cold process soaps with it and it definitely accelerated on me, and darkened the color, but I used a dark color anyway so it didn’t alter my design a lot.

So far I have only used this in soap. At 5% it wept a little but reabsorbed. It also darkens quite a bit but the resulting appearance suits the scent. As for the scent, it is so nice. I got it for a holiday scent but could easily use it year round. It's hard to describe the sweet pine scent it has. It's neither too sweet nor too pine. It's just very very pleasant!
