About Fragrance Oil
  • The fragrance oils sold by Scent Memory are a manufacturing product. They are not skin safe on their own and must be diluted prior to use. 
  • Our oils are formulated to generally work in candle and body care applications, but must be tested for compatibility in your product. 
  • Due to the concentration of the oils safety precautions must be taken when handling them. 

What are fragrance oils?

Fragrance oils are synthetic or blended aromatic compounds designed to mimic natural scents or create entirely new ones. Unlike essential oils, which are extracted from plants, fragrance oils are crafted by blending aromatic chemicals and natural extracts. This careful formulation allows for a wide range of scents that may not be possible to achieve with essential oils alone and also allows for greater safety and performance in their applications. 

How Can Fragrance Oils Be Used?

Though they smell beautiful on their own, fragrance oils are a manufacturing product and must be diluted prior to use. They can be formulated for one specific purpose (such as for soap or in a candle) or for a wider range of applications - however, no one fragrance oil will work in ALL applications, so testing your products is a must. The fragrance oils that Scent Memory Fragrance offer are generally formulated to be safe in candle and body care applications. 

Are Fragrance Oils Safe On Their Own?

Just like any concentrated product, care must be used in handling fragrance oils prior to dilution in product. Every fragrance oil product page contains the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) in the "Regulatory Documents" tab. Download and review prior to using the fragrance oil. 
Safety Information
  • Fragrance oils are a manufacturing product used in making candles, soap and other products. They must be diluted before use.
  • Refer to the IFRA tab for maximum skin safety usage rates, and review the IFRA document carefully. 
  • Maximum usage rates refer to skin safety percentages only and are not recommendations for usage rates in products or formulas. Refer to your formula for the recommended usage rate, and do not use the fragrance oil if the IFRA rate is not rated highly enough for use in your product. 
  • Download and review the SDS (Safety Data Sheet) document provided in the IFRA & SDS tab. Follow all safety guidelines recommended. Do not allow contact with skin or ingest. Follow all IFRA guidelines for dilution in product.  Care should be used in handling at all times.

For our Canadian Friends: we highly recommend Shippsy.com as a package forwarder. UPS charges very high brokerage fees and duty on oils even if they are manufactured in the United States. Shippsy will not charge these fees if a commercial invoice showing the oil origin is provided. We are happy to provide this upon request. You are responsible to ensure all import regulations are followed, including documentation and product approval. Scent Memory is responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

International Shipping: At this time Scent Memory only ships within the United States and its territories. We are responsible only for delivery to a US domestic address and consider orders closed once delivery confirmation is received.

Shipping Policy: Scent Memory ships orders through the United States Postal Service and UPS. All orders are assigned tracking numbers which are transmitted to the customer within 24 hours of shipping.

Orders that are marked as delivered by the shipping carrier are considered complete. Scent Memory is not responsible for stolen or missing packages after the carrier conveys delivered status. Individuals should work with their local post office or UPS location to identify exact location of delivery.

Returned Packages: In the event of a returned package due to undeliverable location, customer refusal or incorrect address, Scent Memory will send the customer and invoice for redelivery. If this is not paid, a refund on the purchase will be made minus the original delivery fee.

Damaged Packages: In the event of a damaged package please contact info@scentmemoryfragrance.com with pictures of the packaging and the product, with a description of and the extent of the damage. This is required for Scent Memory to file a shipping damage claim.

It's a unicorn!

I bought it a couple years ago, only because it's floral. At that time it was just ok to me, like, just floral. I put it aside thinking maybe one day I will make it more. Maybe pregnancy changed my olfactory receptors. I revisited it recently when I tested it on my unicorn soap. It smelled quite unicorny! Delicate, sweet, and pleasant. I am not sure what lilac flowers actually smell like but I sensed the strong Jasmine note in ithis FO. Using this soap to shower made my little "me-time" away from my crazy toddler much more enjoyable.

I got the 10ml tester and loved it. Purchased the 16oz. Made CP soap. I use lard in my soap and had some acceleration. I did one color, so it wasn't an issue. Scent lasted. Unfortunately, the gardenia overwhelms all of the other layers. Lilac is my favorite fragrance. Broke my heart and gave it away.

This is MORE than just LILAC and don't judge it out of the bottle because this is one that smells different after its cured. In my CP soap recipe it did not discolor, accelerate or rice and scent was MEDIUM STRONG after 3 months.

So good, excellent fresh lilac scent. If you're making CP soap be a bit wary. It riced on me but I was able to blend it out. No discoloration and a strong scent after 3 weeks. I'm back for more!

This throws very strong but not suffocating. You could get away with a smaller fragrance load or leave the % alone and let it fill a larger space. It is great on its own but I tried blending it with Creme de la Creme. That combo is sublime!

This is definitely the best lilac fragrance I have found. I expect this from SM, and it delivered. Burns great and throws a beautiful scent without being headache inducing (as many floral scents are for me). Highly recommend.

I just went to the lilac festival under a month ago, so I can say with certainty that this smells like lilacs! It also has that crushed leaves green fragrance that you get from disturbed foliage, so it isn't entirely floral. Definitely very, very, very flowery and sweet, with that distinct lilac note.

This scent is far more green than other lilac fragrance oils that I’ve smelled. It reminded me a little bit of arugula out of bottle. Once it dried down on a blotter strip, the floral component started to shine through. I think it would make a nice soap scent.
